To learn more, clickhere\nPosition Description:\nThe Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) Guidance, Navigation and Mission Analysis team is a high-performing group executing challenging tasks to design, integrate, and evaluate systems for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS). We are searching for a highly qualified candidate to support NASA’s Flight Mechanics and Mission Analysis teams at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). Come join our team!\nJob Functions:\nDevelop, maintain, and evaluate 6-DOF (Degrees of Freedom) simulation models for launch vehicles or missile systems.\nPerform flight mechanics and trajectory analysis using advanced simulation tools.\nExecute Monte Carlo and statistical analyses to assess vehicle performance, margins, and robustness.\nValidate simulation models and assess vehicle dynamics across various flight regimes.\nBuild and improve standalone analysis tools to evaluate vehicle system performance.\nQualifications\nEducation:\nA degree from an ABET-accredited institution in Aerospace Engineering (AE) is required. (A related field may be considered if combined with highly applicable experience).\nEducational requirements are the equivalent of a BS with 5 to 10 years of experience. A Master’s Degree in an applicable field is equivalent to approximately two (2) years of experience.\nExperience:\nRequired: 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience.\nRequired: Extensive experience in 6-DOF modeling and simulation of missile systems or launch vehicles.\nRequired: Strong proficiency and experience in C programming.\nDesired: Experience performing Monte Carlo and statistical analyses.\nRequired: Must possess strong technical initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.\nJob Requirement:\nProof of U.S. Citizenship is required.\nDuties\nDay-to-day activities include:\nCreating, editing, and debugging simulation software written in C.\nRunning 6-DOF simulations, interpreting results, and troubleshooting anomalies.\nWorking independently to solve complex flight mechanics problems while collaborating with Guidance, Navigation and Mission Analysis leads and other engineering disciplines when required.\nCreation and review of engineering and software documentation.\nPreparing and presenting technical reports and briefings.\nWork Environment:\nOffice environment onsite MSFC (>90%).\nRequires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%).
