This entry level exempt position provides technical based oversight and management of systems administration and information assurance activities related to the PMRF range systems. Provides entry level Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or Windows Modern Desktop, Windows Servers administration for all Clients and Servers connected to the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) classified and unclassified networks. Deploys Cyber Security mandated system upgrades, system patches, and system security lockdown requirements. Performs system wide troubleshooting and problem resolution in a live mission environment.\nResponsibilities\nProvide entry level systems administration for all clients, servers, and peripherals connected to the classified and unclassified PMRF networks.\nDeploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation, updates, upgrades, patching, and core services related to Linux or Windows workstations, servers, and applications.\nImplement DISA STIG secure configuration requirements to applicable workstations, servers and applications.\nManage users and groups, including using a centralized directory for authentication.\nConfigure local storage using partitions and logical volumes.\nCreate and configure file systems and file system attributes, such as permissions, encryption, access control lists, and network file systems.\nOperate systems, including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, starting and stopping virtual machines, and controlling services.\nSupport for application installation, licenses management, software tracking/distribution and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files.\nMaintain up-to-date Configuration Control and adhere to all Configuration Management requirements for all firmware, software, and hardware associated with the classified and unclassified PMRF networks.\nUnderstand and use essential tools for handling files, directories, command-line environments, and documentation.\nPrepare and submit status reports, and technical briefs, as required, to supervisor, senior management, and customers.\nUse automated installation methods and system imaging (e.g., MECM, VMware)\nUsage of cryptographic log-on methods (e.g., PKI)\nAnalysis, design, and implementation of modifications to the system software to improve system performance by correcting errors.\nParticipation in planning new hardware acquisitions, interacting with vendors, educating customers, and communicating and collaborating with other projects within the organization.\nUsing shell scripting to automate system maintenance tasks.\nPerform system asset/property accountability and license management within specifications of PMRF contract.\nAssist and support lab environment testing/buildouts with senior team members.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nAdditional Responsibilities\nLifting, pushing, and pulling over 25 - 50 lbs.\nWork positions requirements: walking, standing, sitting, crawling, kneeling or cramped. Work requiring repeated stooping, or frequent climbing.\nWorking environment activities: customer contact, extended workday, confined work area, office laboratory, field assignment, and inclement weather.\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh School or equivalent\nTwo years’ experience in Information Technology.\nAdvance certifications or education may be substituted for experience.\nMust be proficient in operating personal computers, computer software and standard office equipment.\nMust have basic keyboarding skills and aptitude for neatness and accuracy in sorting.\nMust be capable of working in a team environment and participate in technical and system administrative activities throughout project life cycles.\nCritical thinking - Proven problem solver\nGood written and oral communication skills are required including ability to organize.\nKnowledge of IT systems, including Windows Modern Desktop, RHEL, and infrastructure concepts - Windows Server and/or VMware certifications. Preferred\nKnowledge of Cyber Security Methods and Techniques. Preferred\nCertifications\n- DOD 8570.1M IAT Level I required prior to start.\n- One of the following OS Certifications required prior to start (subject to change based on industry, DoD or local policy requirements)\nLinux+ or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)\nAzure Administrator Associate (AZ-104 exam)\nWindows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (AZ-800 & AZ-801 exams)\nSecurity Clearance\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
