Successfully balances worktaskingwith community and volunteer tasking.\nPosition Responsibilities:\nOversees the packaging, crating, and documentation, for all northbound cargo. Ensures all cargo is labeled,storedand packed properly This includes property of science, construction, operations, maintenance or other USAP agency cargo being transported from Palmer Station to CONUS, OCONUS and Punta Arenas.\n\nResponsible formaintainingthe preliminary north-bound manifest.\n\nInteracts with ASC Departments, Grantees, and Subcontractors to ensure thetimelyarrival and receipt of material.\n\nOversees quality assurance practices throughout the cargo movement and container loading and unloading process.\n\nResponsible formaintainingthe Maximo Inventory and Shipping Modules within the Maximo Database. Manages data entry of Maximoin regard toShipping Number creation and editing.\n\nMaintains records of north-bound and south-bound shipping documentation.\n\nReceives, stores and issues/returns materials in support of all department operations including forklift support asrequired.Researchstock information todeterminelocations and stock levels using the ERP database.\n\nCompletes electronic purchase requisition receiving and data entry for cargo received on station.\n\nResearches and provides WODS (wrong, overage,damagedor short) reports on any discrepancies for materials received.\n\nProducesstandardand/or custom reports for ASC departments with-in MAXIMO.\n\nConducts inventories of station supplies andmaintainsmaps of several outside storage locations.\n\nParticipates in long-shore cargo handling duties involving 20’ shipping containers, break-bulk and hazardous cargo weighing up to 20,000lbs. This includes handling taglines for both south-bound and north-bound cargo.\n\nParticipate in onsite emergency response team& trainings.\n\nCoordinates with Grantees and ASC departments for the receiving,accurateprocessing,timelypackingand movement of mission critical material.\n\nFields and troubleshoots cargo queries presented to theLogisticsdepartmentregardingcargo, MAXIMO issues and any other Logistics-related discrepancies that may arise.\n\nRequired tooperateheavy equipment to load/un-load cargo out of shipping containers and move cargo around station as requested.\n\nFrequently works outdoors in inclement weather forlong periodsof timefrequentlyperforming strenuous physical work\n\nWillfrequentlyclimb vertical ladders into and out of equipment and platforms to access cargo\n\nSupports operations that occur after normal work hours or on ASC days off.\n\nResponsible formaintainingPalmer Stations SDS library.\n\nResponsible for general housekeeping andmaintainswarehouse and Outside Storage Area (OSA) in an organized and clean manner.\n\nOther duties as assigned by Logistics department management; outdoor work will berequiredin varying temperatures.\n\nRequired Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses:\nHigh School diploma orGED\n\nMinimumoftwo(2)years’ experience working in any of the following fields: Inventory materials management, purchasing, warehousing, cargo, transportation, or supply chain logistics including the use of forklifts, hand trucks and other powered and non-powered lifting devices or a minimum of one season experience working in the Transportation and Logistics (T&L) department or related areas in Antarctica.\n\nExpected Skills and Competencies:\nIntermediate skills with minimum one year of Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel,Wordand PowerPoint)\n\nStrong analytical, organization, interpersonal, and customer service skills.\n\nAbility to work in a team environment.\n\nStrong ability to multi-task.\n\nHigh attention to detail with high aptitude for detailed problem solving. Experience with polarlogisticsoperations is preferred.\n\nPhysical and/or Other Requirements:\nWillingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods\n\nSuccessful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica\n\nSuccessful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer\n\nSuccessful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF\n\nMust be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.\n\nMust be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.\n\nMustparticipatein community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safetyobjectives.\n\nValid Driver’s License issued in the United States\n\nNo clearance requirement but the contract and/or the site requires US Citizenship to be approved for access.
