To be successful, you must be able to rapidly adapt and learn how to operate the front and back end of new products and processes.\nWork Schedule: 40-hours of shift work; shifts vary from Days (0630 - 1500), Swings (1430 - 2300), & Mids (2230 - 0700); Sunday through Saturday\nEssential Responsibilities:\nThe duties and responsibilities of the Staff Network Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:\nAssist in managing multiple projects and initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers using standard systems development life cycle models (i.e. INCOSE V, Waterfall, etc.). \nProvide support for local and wide area networking, communications, and related hardware/software in a multi-platform environment, under the mentorship of senior team members. \nSupport the operations of information systems, including computer and communications systems, LAN/WAN administration, system security, and operational procedures. \nCollaborate with team members to assist in analyzing and developing new hardware requirements and assist in preparing specifications for hardware acquisitions. \nResearch emerging technologies and support the evaluation of new solutions for integration into the network, such as mobile and transportable systems, Virtualization, and Software Defined Networking (SDN). \nAssist in reviewing and updating network designs and site design packages. \nWork alongside senior engineers to design and plan network communication systems. \nSupport the creation of documentation for network designs and operations. \nParticipate in maintaining and updating technical documentation for integration projects and ongoing network operations. \nHelp identify and troubleshoot performance, security, and technical issues, escalating them to senior team members when needed. \nAssist in the implementation and maintenance of DISA STIG requirements. \nStay updated on technological advancements and help evaluate vendor products under the guidance of senior engineers. \nMinimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):\nFamiliarity with basic networking concepts such as TCP/IP, routers, switches, and firewalls. \nStrong interest in learning about network design, monitoring, and troubleshooting. \nBasic understanding of LAN/WAN concepts and experience working with Cisco routers and switches (or similar technologies). \nWillingness to learn how to configure, monitor, and maintain network hardware and software. \nKnowledge of internetworking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) is a plus. \nAbility to work well in a team and effectively communicate technical information. \nBasic experience with network monitoring tools (such as SolarWinds, Syslog, SNMP) is a plus. \nMust be able to work a 40-hour work week, normally Monday through Friday. \nAbility to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests for overtime if needed. \nAbility to travel (5-10%) primarily within 75 miles. \nFamiliarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project, and Visio. \nExceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills. \nAbility to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. \nSecurity Clearance Required:\nMust have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI\nMinimum Education:\nHigh School Diploma\nMinimum Years of Experience:\n4 years of relevant experience\nRequired Certifications:\nMust possess a current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification and one of the following 8140 IAT Level II or III baseline certifications:\nLevel II certs include - CCNA Security, GISCP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP\nLevel III certs include - CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH\nPreferred Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in IT related field\n4 - 8 years of relevant experience\nITIL v4 Certification\nServiceNow experience\nExperience with installation and configuration of enterprise network and systems infrastructure devices, cabling, and operational best practices\nUnderstanding of Active Directory, MECM, DHCP, DNS, Cisco IOS, SolarWinds, and Remedy\n#javelin #jointhepack #ccna #cisco #ccnp #networkengineer\nThis position is not designated as a safety sensitive position.\nAs part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment, Amentum is a drug-free workplace and requires all personnel to comply with company drug and alcohol policies as a condition of employment.
