Our commitments are underpinned by the belief that safety, collaboration and well-being are integral to success.\nAmentum is seeking a Patrol Boat Operator to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Patrol Boat Operator is responsible for the safe operation and coordination of patrol boat activities to ensure the safety and security of watercraft and personnel in the designated area. This role requires adherence to Navy standards and instructions and the ability to conduct rescue operations when necessary.\nJob Responsibilities\nOperate patrol boats to visually verify that all craft in the area are operational and accounted for.\nConduct regular patrols to monitor the number of persons aboard watercraft and ensure all individuals are accounted for.\nMaintain a visual check of watercraft in the designated area to detect any anomalies, safety issues, or unauthorized activity.\nRecord and log all verifications of craft operations, personnel counts, and incidents during patrols in accordance with NAVSUPPFACDGINST 3130.3 series.\nPrepare accurate reports of patrol boat activities, including any observations, incidents, or rescue operations.\nInitiate rescue operations promptly and efficiently in the event of distress or emergency, following Navy protocols and safety standards.\nCoordinate with other rescue and support teams during emergencies to ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel involved.\nPerform routine inspections and maintenance of patrol boat equipment to ensure it is always operational and ready for deployment.\nAdhere to all safety protocols and operational procedures while operating patrol boats and conducting assigned tasks.\nPerform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nAt least 1 year of experience operating small boats or watercraft in a patrol, security, or rescue capacity.\nMust be a certified instructor/trainer in small craft handling (sail and power), a basic sailing instructor, and American Red Cross Lifeguard.\nKnowledge of safe boat handling, navigation techniques, and rescue operations.\nFamiliarity with Navy maritime standards and procedures, including NAVSUPPFACDGINST 3130.3 series or equivalent.\nStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate logs and records of operational activities.\nMust possess the physical fitness required to manage emergency or rescue operations on the water.\nMust be able to successfully complete and maintain all required training and certifications, including Customer Service, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), Water Safety, and local emergency procedures training, with annual recertification as required.\nMust be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.\nPassport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.\nAbility to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.\nAbility to successfully pass contract medical, swimming, and physical fitness requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.\nMust read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.\nValid country driver’s license and boating license/certification.\nCertification or training in rescue operations, watercraft safety, or maritime navigation.\nFamiliarity with Navy or Department of Defense maritime security operations and protocols.\nAdditional skills in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting for small watercraft.\nOther Responsibilities:\nSafety: Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.\nPhysical Requirements\nRequirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
