If you have experience as a shipboard Damage Controlman, Hull Technician or other mechanical rating, this may be the position you have been looking for.\nJob responsibilities:\nThe Senior Engineering Technician - Mechanical will become an integral part of CEMAT-ACCIT in support of the Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) on board John C. Stennis (CVN 74).\nThe ideal Senior Engineering Technician - Mechanical will have prior shipboard mechanical HM&E experience.\nThe Senior Engineering Technician - Mechanical will be working as part of a small cross-functional team. When not working in their primary specialty they may be required to assist other members of the team in the performance of their work including but not limited to standing fire watch or safety watch.\nApply comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.\nInspect, troubleshoot, and repair shipboard electrical systems, equipment, and components, utilizing technical drawings, manuals, blueprints, and schematics to ensure compliance with naval specifications and maintain system integrity and personnel safety.\nMust be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. Exact weight to be determined by the specific job assignment, but no less than 30lbs.\nMinimum Requirements:\nAt least six (4) to eight (8) years’ experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of naval or marine hull and damage control equipment.\nAt least four (4) to six (6) years’ experience in a position of supervisory responsibility over a subordinate work force involved in the physical maintenance and repair of hull and damage control equipment systems.\nAt least two (2) to four (4) years’ experience with shipboard hull and damage control equipment.\nHave prior experience as a Damage Controlman\nThe position requires the ability to work onboard US Navy ships and access ship repair industrial facilities.\nApplicant must be able to obtain Newport News Shipyard access badge.\nMust have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.\nPhysical Requirements\nThe applicant must be able to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes of no less than 30 pounds.\nThe applicant must be able to ships in a shipyard environment under industrial conditions.\nThe applicant must be able to work on and climb vertical ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, and in confined spaces.\nThe applicant may be exposed to fumes and other irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases, various cleaning solutions, and solvents requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include a respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and hard toed safety boots.\nThe applicant will be required to obtain and maintain certain qualifications such as:\nFire Watch qualified.\nShipyard Competent Person (Confined Space)\nRespirator qualified to include a physical and fit test.\nOSHA 7615 Shipyard Employment 10-hour training course.\nCompensation Details:\n$27.59 - 33.50The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued.
