To learn more, clickHOME | JBS Solutions\nPosition Description\nWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Image Analyst and Software Engineer to provide software engineering, database management, computer systems support, and engineering imagery analysis capabilities to the Engineering Photographic Analysis (EPA) Team at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing specialized software applications, databases, websites, and supporting computer systems used in engineering imagery analysis for NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) Program. This position requires a technically versatile professional with strong software engineering capabilities, experience maintaining complex technical applications, and an interest in applying those capabilities to engineering-imagery processing and analysis.\nThe primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the reliability, functionality, and continued development of the EPA team's software applications, databases, and supporting technical infrastructure. The candidate must be capable of independently troubleshooting existing systems, resolving technical issues, and implementing enhancements that support evolving engineering requirements.\nThe candidate will work collaboratively with NASA engineers, imagery analysts, software developers, and other technical specialists to support the processing and evaluation of imagery collected during ground testing, launch operations, and flight. These activities contribute to the identification, characterization, and documentation of significant engineering events and potential anomalies in support of vehicle performance assessments, mission Responsibilities\nSoftware Engineering and Application Development\nDesign, develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance custom software applications, tools, and libraries supporting engineering imagery analysis.\nMaintain the operational reliability and functionality of existing software applications and implement improvements to address evolving technical requirements.\nDevelop and maintain specialized image processing applications for video playback, stabilization, image alignment, perspective correction, distortion modeling, image enhancement, and motion analysis.\nDevelop, troubleshoot, and maintain desktop applications, web-based applications, websites, software services, and application programming interfaces (APIs).\nEvaluate existing software capabilities, identify and API endpoints.\nInvestigate and resolve software, database, and computer system issues to ensure continuity of critical engineering analysis capabilities.\nDevelop queries, compile statistics, and generate technical reports supporting engineering analysis, application performance, and database usage.\nMaintain software requirements, database definitions, interface specifications, configuration documentation, and data management procedures.\nSupport the integration and interoperability of imagery analysis applications, databases, and associated engineering systems.\nEngineering Imagery Processing and Analysis\nDevelop and apply software tools and image processing techniques to support engineering analysis of still imagery, video, film, and high-speed digital imagery.\nProcess, manipulate, enhance, stabilize, align, and correlate imagery collected from multiple camera systems.\nSupport the evaluation of camera characteristics, image orientation, lens parameters, image timing, metadata, and other technical factors affecting imagery interpretation.\nAssist imagery analysts in identifying, classifying, characterizing, and documenting significant engineering events, anomalies, and vehicle behavior.\nSupport the correlation of imagery timing and observations with other engineering data sources.\nParticipate in post-launch reviews of SLS ascent imagery to support engineering assessments, anomaly investigations, and crew and vehicle safety.\nPrepare or contribute to technical assessments, analysis products, and reports documenting engineering observations and findings.\nTechnical Collaboration and Documentation\nCollaborate with imagery analysts, engineers, software developers, and technical stakeholders to identify requirements and develop effective software solutions.\nInvestigate complex technical problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement practical, sustainable solutions.\nDevelop and maintain software documentation, technical procedures, interface definitions, requirements, and configuration records.\nCommunicate technical findings, recommendations, and engineering assessments through written reports, presentations, and technical discussions.\nSupport knowledge transfer, process improvements, and technical continuity of critical engineering imagery analysis capabilities.\nWork independently and collaboratively to prioritize software maintenance, technical problem resolution, and new development activities.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or closely related technical discipline is required. Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, with substantial experience in software development, application maintenance, database management, or related computer science and engineering disciplines.\nExperience developing and maintaining software applications using C# and .NET, including object-oriented programming principles and software troubleshooting.\nExperience with SQL programming and relational database management, including database design, query development, data manipulation, and maintenance.\nExperience developing or maintaining desktop applications, web applications, software services, or application programming interfaces (APIs).\nFamiliarity with digital imagery, video processing, or other scientific and engineering data processing applications.\nStrong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.\nPreferred Qualifications\nFifteen or more years of relevant professional experience in software engineering, computer science, database management, scientific computing, or related technical disciplines.\nDemonstrated experience independently maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing established software applications and database systems with minimal supervision.\nExperience developing web-based applications using ASP.NET, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, or similar technologies.\nExperience with SQL Server, MySQL, or comparable relational database management systems, including database administration, security, user permissions, and performance optimization.\nExperience deploying, administering, and maintaining servers, websites, databases, web services, and RESTful APIs.\nExperience developing scientific, engineering, image processing, or data analysis software.\nFamiliarity with image processing applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, FFmpeg, HandBrake, or GIMP.\nExperience developing image processing algorithms for video stabilization, image alignment, geometric correction, image enhancement, feature tracking, or motion
