We are currently seeking a Staff Geologist to support the FAA William J Hughes Technical Center’s for Advanced Aerospace - Environmental Remediation Support Services contract in Atlantic City, NJ.\nJob Description\n(Duties & Responsibilities)\nWe are seeking an entry to mid-level Staff Geologist with 1-3 years of experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, excellent organizational skills. Below are the key responsibilities and requirements for the role:\nKey Responsibilities:\nPerform groundwater monitoring activities, including low-flow groundwater sampling and water level measurements.\nConduct soil sampling using a variety of methods, including hand tools and direct-push (Geoprobe) technology.\nPerform air monitoring tasks, including ambient air sampling.\nSupport field oversight of contractors during remedial action activities such as drilling, soil excavation, well installation, and system construction.\nAccurately document field activities, including maintenance of field logs, sample chain-of-custody, and photo documentation.\nCalibrate and troubleshoot field instruments, including air, groundwater, and soil sampling equipment.\nAssist with waste characterization, profiling, and disposal coordination during remediation activities.\nCollect, organize, and verify data for reporting purposes, including groundwater monitoring reports, air monitoring summaries, and remedial action updates.\nAdhere to health and safety protocols during all field activities, including use of proper PPE and hazard recognition.\nMaintain strong communication with project managers and team members to ensure that all field objectives are completed effectively and efficiently.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (required).\n1-3 years of field-based experience in environmental consulting or site remediation projects.\nProficiency in conducting field tasks such as groundwater, soil, and air sampling.\nFamiliarity with remedial action tasks including system monitoring, excavation activities, and waste management.\nExperience planning field sampling events and coordinating with laboratory subcontractors.\nStrong field data collection, recordkeeping, and report-writing skills with attention to detail.\nAbility to properly operate, maintain, and troubleshoot monitoring and sampling equipment.\nExcellent organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple field assignments.\nProficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with GIS or environmental databases is a plus.\nA commitment to health, safety, and adherence to regulatory requirements in fieldwork.\nPreferred Qualifications\nOSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain).\nKnowledge of remediation systems and technologies, such as in-situ treatment methods, pump-and-treat systems, and excavation technologies\nFamiliarity with regulatory programs such as CERCLA, RCRA, and New Jersey specific environmental regulations.\nExperience with subsurface investigations, including well installation and soil logging.\nPhysical Requirements (if any)\nThis is a field-based role that requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and environments, including construction or industrial sites.\nAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and walk on uneven terrain while carrying equipment.\nOther requirements\nUS Citizen for Government non-classified background review and PIV assignment\nCompensation & Benefits:\nHIRING SALARY RANGE:$61,000 - $77,000(Annually) (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)\nBENEFITS\nAmentum offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical dental and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, 15 days of paid time off, and parental leave.\nCompensation Details:\n$61,000 - $77,000The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued.
