Provides Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration for all Clients and Servers connected to the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) classified and unclassified networks. Deploys Cyber Security mandated system upgrades, system patches, and system security lockdown requirements. Performs system wide troubleshooting and problem resolution in a live mission environment.\nResponsibilities\nAdminister and maintain Red Hat Linux (RHEL) and other Linux-based environments in classified and unclassified environments across Navy networks.\nImplement and maintain RMF security controls and ensure systems are compliant with DISA STIGs and DoW cybersecurity policies.\nApply and manage patches and updates across all Linux systems in accordance with DoW and Navy patch management policies.\nManage automated installation methods and system imaging (e.g., SCCM, VMware, Nutanix, Satellite, Ansible)\nPerform system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation using tools such as ACAS, ESS, and SCAP.\nDevelop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation of administrative tasks and system configuration.\nSupport virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and manage virtual infrastructure lifecycle.\nCollaborate with cybersecurity teams to support ATO packages, POA&Ms, and audit readiness.\nMaintain and develop system documentation, configuration baselines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).\nParticipate in Change Control Boards (CCBs) and Configuration Management Boards (CMBs).\nLead incident response, forensic analysis, and system recovery efforts.\nDefine backup and disaster recovery strategies using enterprise tools (e.g., Veeam, Commvault).\nEvaluate and recommend new Linux technologies and DoW-approved tools.\nGeneral office environment with site visits as well as periodic \"at sea\" duty to support the PMRF's Mobile at Sea Sensor system (MATSS)\nCandidate must be capable of working in a team environment and participate in technical and system administrative activities throughout project life cycles.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nPhysical Elements/ Environment\nLifting, Pushing/Pulling: over 50lbs\nWork positions requirements: walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, cramped, sitting and work requiring repeated stooping or frequent climbing.\nEnvironment: customer contact, extended workday, confined work area, office laboratory, field assignment, and inclement weather.\nMinimum Qualifications\nExperience\n Two (2) year of specialized Linux system administration is required.\nYears of directly related work experience may be substituted for a degree\nKnowledge of IT systems and advance IT infrastructure concepts\nMust be proficient in operating personal computers, computer software and standard office equipment\nMust have basic keyboarding skills and aptitude for neatness and accuracy in sorting\nCritical thinking - Proven problem solver\nProficiency in automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)\nVMware/Nutanix certification\nKnowledge/Administration of Trellix, LogRhythm, and MDE\nExperience with DoW systems and infrastructure\nKnowledge in Cyber Security Methods and Techniques\nKnowledge of DoW IT systems, to include Windows, RHEL, and comprehensive infrastructure concepts\nEducation\n Associate's Degree\nHigh School Diploma with four (4) years of directly related system administration experience may be substituted for an A.S. degree. \nAdvance certifications or education may be substituted for a degree or experience \nCertifications (subject to change based on industry, DoW, or local policy requirements)\nDODI 8570.1M IAT Level II required prior to start\nLinux+ or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Certification required prior to start\nPreferred Qualifications\nAdvance knowledge and certification in both Windows Server and RHEL is considered highly desired\nSecurity Clearance\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
