This position is supporting Amentum on a contract for the US Department of Defense and based in Japan, primarily at a customer location aboard MCAS Iwakuni in support of a Base Operations & Support contract with the Department of Defense (DoD)/Navy-Marine Corps.\nWorking Environment: Non-Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) assignment (SOFA dependents maintain their status). Constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.\nWork Schedule: This position works at least eight hours per day, five days per week minimum. Traditional in-person attendance expectations (non-hybrid). The candidate participates in a 24/7 duty phone rotation.\nMajor Duties and Responsibilities:\nParticipate as a team member for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of two activated sludge wastewater plants. Systems must be operational 24 hours per day 365 days per year.\nCustodial responsibility for work areas and management of tools, equipment, and spare parts for the wastewater treatment plants.\nRepair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of wastewater buildings and grounds.\nTests installed, modified, or repaired systems to ensure that specifications and equipment performance requirements are met.\nData collection, analysis, and reporting results as required for level of expertise gained.\nInterprets system operation readings and make recommendations for needed corrective actions.\nAdvise immediate Supervisor of job progress and material/labor requirements.\nWork directly with other departments to plan and complete tasking.\nDuring emergencies and natural disasters, may be called to duty for more than normal (8) hour shift to assist that the Water Treatment facility and system items are in operational compliance\nPerforms other duties as may be assigned.\nMinimum Acceptable Experience and Qualification Levels:\nPrefer experience in municipal water or wastewater treatment systems\nPrefer facilities preventative maintenance experience\nPrefer knowledge in the techniques, equipment, materials, and regulations used in the maintenance and repair of water/wastewater treatment equipment and systems.\nExpected Skills and Competencie s:\nWork well as part of a team and independently and can handle issues with tact and diplomacy.\nGood organizational, time management, and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions.\nAbility to read and interpret design drawings, specifications as required.\nMust be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum.\nMust be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors.\nEducation:\nTrade related program completion, High school diploma or GED required at a minimum or the country equivalent of that education.\nLanguage Requirements:\nPrimary communication is in English (interview will be in English)\nPreference towards speaking, reading, and writing Japanese including reading and using building diagrams and technical manuals.\nBilingual in speaking English and Japanese is preferred.\nProfessional Licenses & Certifications:\nWastewater related certification or equivalent experience is preferred. Contractor identification is a requirement of employment and continuance of employment.\nPosition requires the applicant to drive in the performance of work duties. Applicant must be able to obtain (if on IDP) and maintain a Japanese Driver License, within 90 days of hire, or SOFA license and be able to operate a Company provided motor vehicle on MCAS Iwakuni. Applicant must be able and willing to operate motor vehicle on Japanese roads as job duties require. Vehicle operators will be subject to Japanese and US Military traffic citation point system. \nTransportation is not provided to locally hired personnel for the purpose of commuting to and from the workplace. Non-locally hired are expected to obtain and maintain the legal ability to operate a Company provided vehicle both on and off the installation for the purpose of commute and/or on-site transportation. Those unable to obtain and maintain the legal means to operate a motor vehicle in Japan or aboard the installation will be responsible for their own transportation for all purposes.\nAll vehicle assignments, if applicable, are based on vehicle availability, position, work assignment and where the primary operator may live.
