# WTP Operator in Training (OIT)

The WTP Operator‑in‑Training (OIT) supports the operation and maintenance of Water Treatment Plant (WTP) systems in accordance with Navy utility operations standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include assisting certified operators with daily operation, monitoring, and control of water treatment processes to ensure the production of safe, potable water. The OIT performs routine inspections, collects water samples, conducts basic testing, and records operational data under supervision. This role includes learning treatment processes such as filtration, disinfection, chemical dosing, and system monitoring while adhering to established safety and environmental procedures. Additional duties include assisting with preventive maintenance activities, maintaining cleanliness of treatment facilities, responding to alarms or abnormal conditions as directed, and supporting inspections and audits.
