This role is responsible for the general maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of building systems - including HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and ice plant/refrigeration equipment - to keep the facility running safely and reliably for programming, events, and daily operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform routine rounds and inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the facility\n\nMonitor and support the ice plant/refrigeration system, including compressors, pumps, and related controls, escalating issues to senior engineering staff as needed\n\nRespond to basic HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical service calls and perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance\n\nComplete assigned work orders and document completed maintenance tasks accurately\n\nAssist with setup and breakdown of building systems and equipment for scheduled events, public skate sessions, and hockey programs\n\nMonitor building automation/control systems and report anomalies or alarms to the appropriate supervisor\n\nSupport other trades (electrical, painting, general maintenance) with basic tasks as directed\n\nFollow all safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures when working on mechanical or electrical equipment\n\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe mechanical/engineering work environment\n\nRespond to urgent facility issues during scheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends, and event-driven schedules\n\nQualifications\n1-3+ years of experience in building/facility engineering, maintenance, or a related mechanical trade; venue, arena, or ice rink experience a plus\n\nBasic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and general mechanical systems\n\nFamiliarity with refrigeration or ice plant systems a plus, but not required\n\nAbility to read basic work orders, equipment manuals, and safety data sheets (SDS)\n\nComfortable working with hand and power tools, ladders, and basic diagnostic equipment\n\nStrong attention to detail and willingness to learn facility-specific systems\n\nAbility to work flexible part-time hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays around the event/program schedule\n\nPhysical ability to stand, climb, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalent; trade coursework or certification a plus\n\nWorking Conditions\nFast-paced venue environment with a schedule tied to public skate sessions, hockey programs, concerts, and other live events\n\nExposure to cold temperatures (rink areas), mechanical/equipment rooms, and varying conditions across interior/exterior work\n\nMust be able to pass a background check\n\nWhat We Offer\nPart-time, flexible-hours position with pay tied to hours worked\n\nOpportunity to work in a premier sports and entertainment venue\n\nAt the Florida Panthers Hockey Club, Arena Operating Company, Panthers IceDen, Sanza Food Service, War Memorial Benefit Corporation, and FLA Team Shop, we strive to make every employee feel valued and respected for who they are and the unique contributions they make.
