Our service area covers 64 counties and more than 500 communities including the greater St. Louis area\nPosition(s): 1\nHourly Rate Range: $53.26 - $56.35\nRevision Date: 5/6/1985\nArea/Div: 1403\nDUTIES:\nUnder direct but not constant supervision, to do a general range of repair and maintenance work on automotive equipment, construction equipment and power take-off driven equipment; to repair garage equipment and do maintenance work on building structures and equipment at the Lakeside facility as required: to direct the work of another General Maintenance\nMechanic-Lakeside or Motor Trnsportation-Lakeside employee; and do similar and less skilled work as required. In this connection to perform details of work, such as:\nRebuild engines, transmission and differentials.\nAnalyze engines.\nRepair and adjust brake systems.\nRepair, and align vehicle suspension and steering systems. Repack, adjust or replace bearings.\nMaintain fuel systems.\nMaintain cooling systems.\nMaintain electrical systems.\nDo welding.\nMake minor fender and body repairs.\nMinor paint or touch up.\nMake modifications on equipment as required.\nRepair or replace tires.\nBalance wheels.\nRepair or replace components of construction equipment, power take-off driven equipment, and hydraulic equipment.\nRepair small power equipment.\nInspect, lubricate, wash and fuel equipment.\nInstall glass.\nMake service calls.\nPerform corrective and preventative maintenance on building systems and structures including work on de-energized AC circuits and heating/cooling systems.\nAssist other classifications as required.\nSPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: \nFor proper care and use of tools, materials and shop equipment.\nFor responding to calls quickly, and restoring equipment to service in a minimum of time.\nFor working with precision when making close adjustments.\nFor close careful inspection and adjustment of equipment for the protection of operators and equipment.\nFor following safe working practices, maintain garage in clean, orderly and safe condition.\nCONTACTS: \nWith suppliers, building inspectors, and other employees for which work is performed. \n\nWORKING CONDITIONS: \nExposed to outside weather conditions; must dress for inside and outside work; subject to irritations from gas, oil, solvents, fumes; and to damp and drafty conditions.\nHAZARDS: \nSubject to skin abrasions; to eye injury from foreign particles; to the hazards of carbon monoxide gas; to the hazard of working under and around equipment; to street and highway traffic; potential hazards of falls, electrical shock, flash, burns and other hazards normally encountered by mechanics.\nQUALIFICATIONS: \nGraduation from high school or successful completion of a recognized high school equivalency examination.\nSuccessful completion of an approved program in automotive maintenance, or two years experience working as a vehicle mechanic in a related industry.\nShall have satisfactorily performed for two years as Assistant General Maintenance Mechanic-Lakeside or its equivalent.\nDemonstrated, hands on ability in vehicle repair and maintenance to include the following areas; brakes, engine and electrical analysis, valve grinding, general troubleshooting, suspension and steering, drive train and hydraulics.\nMust be able to meet and deal with people, be willing to work alone for considerable periods, be active and able-bodied and have average physical strength and endurance.\nMust be a competent operator of equipment and qualify for and retain valid chauffeur's license.\nMust qualify for and retain valid state motor vehicle inspector permit.\n Hourly Pay:\nGrade Step OA 194 Step 1 of 5 - 53.26 USDGrade Step OA 194 Step 2 of 5 - 53.26 USDGrade Step OA 194 Step 3 of 5 - 54.29 USDGrade Step OA 194 Step 4 of 5 - 55.32 USDGrade Step OA 194 Step 5 of 5 (Top Step) - 56.35 USDPosition is eligible for annual incentive payments based on company performance and subject to sole management discretion.
