Ameresco seeks a Accountant to support Ameresco’s business in Greece, including its joint venture entities. This position will be reporting to the Manager-International Accounting in our corporate office, and this role will sit in our Office, in Athens. In this role, you will support the finance and accounting team by handling daily financial tasks, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with reporting and compliance activities. You will provide essential support to business units and their leadership. You will spearhead full-cycle project accounting and financial analysis, supporting units comprising energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, recurring operations and maintenance contracts, a portfolio of energy asset investments, and tightly managed operating expenses. The ideal candidate will possess a strong accounting background and analytical skills, with experience in Greek GAAP or equivalent accounting principles, and cross-functional collaboration.\nResponsibilities:\nRecord and process financial transactions accurately\n\nAssist with accounts payable and accounts receivable\n\nPrepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash balances\n\nMaintain accounting records, invoices, and support documentation\n\nAssist in maintaining project accounting policies and procedures and ensure timely closure of books in accordance with Greek. GAAP.\n\nVAT/WHT declarations\n\nSupport MyDATA processes\n\nSupport month-end and year-end closing processes\n\nAssist in preparing financial reports and spreadsheets\n\nEnsure compliance with company policies and accounting standards\n\nCommunicate with vendors, clients, and internal departments regarding financial matters\n\nPerform other duties as required.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field\n\nBasic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software\n\nExperience in construction, energy efficiency projects, or similar industries is preferred.\n\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills\n\nGood analytical and communication abilities\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\n\nPreferred Skills\nPrevious accounting experience\nFamiliarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft D365\nTime management and problem-solving skills\nWillingness to learn and grow professionally\nAmeresco challenges the brightest, most talented, and creative individuals in the industry by providing an environment that fosters initiative and achievement.
