Eligible students who relocate for their internship assignment may also qualify for a housing stipend, providing additional support while gaining valuable industry experience.\nProject Management Internship Details\nBy applying for this position, you are expressing interest in a Project Management Internship with American Electric Power.\nAs a Project Management Intern, you'll work alongside experienced project managers supporting projects that help deliver safe, reliable, and affordable energy to our customers. You'll gain exposure to project planning, scheduling, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, project controls, and business operations while contributing to meaningful projects across AEP.\nDay in the Life of an AEP Project Management Intern\nAs a Project Management Intern, you may:\nAssist project managers with planning, organizing, and coordinating project activities.\nSupport the development and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and status reports.\nParticipate in project team meetings and document action items and key decisions.\nTrack project milestones, deliverables, risks, and issues.\nPrepare presentations, dashboards, reports, and other project documentation.\nAssist in collecting and analyzing project data to support informed business decisions.\nSupport communication among project team members, business partners, vendors, and stakeholders.\nGain exposure to project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.\nAssist with procurement, contract, scheduling, or project controls activities.\nIdentify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.\nLearn and promote AEP's commitment to safety and operational excellence.\nDevelop leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through project assignments and mentorship opportunities.\nBasic Qualifications\nRequired\nCurrently pursuing an associate, bachelor's, or graduate degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.\nMust have completed at least your freshman year.\nGraduation date of December 2027 or later.\nMust be at least 18 years old.\nStrong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.\nThis position is not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT.\nPreferred\nMinimum 3.0 GPA.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.\nInterest in project management, utility operations, business processes, construction, technology, or energy infrastructure.\nStrong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.\nDemonstrated leadership through academic, extracurricular, or work experiences.\nAreas of Opportunity\nInterns may gain experience in:\nProject Planning and Coordination\nProject Controls and Reporting\nConstruction and Infrastructure Projects\nBusiness Process Improvement\nProcurement and Vendor Management\nRisk Management\nContinuous Improvement Initiatives\nWhat You'll Get\nCompetitive hourly pay based on completed college credit hours.\nHousing stipend for eligible students.\nExposure to project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.\nMeaningful project work that impacts AEP's business and operations.\nMentorship and networking opportunities with project professionals and business leaders.\nPaid AEP-recognized holidays.\n401(k) participation.\nWhere You'll Work\nAssignments may take place in office settings, operational facilities, project sites, or construction environments, depending on business needs and internship placement.
