Our Team

The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners around the world that facilitate American Express acceptance and enabling the day-to-day operations of our company’s payment network.

The U.S. Merchant Marketing, Global Marketing Execution & Analytics (UMGEA) team is responsible for leveraging marketing and analytics capabilities to drive sustainable growth through customer, partner, and product insights that inform the merchant value proposition, channel strategy, and investment optimization, while leveraging the full range of enterprise assets and partnerships for GMNS customers and ensuring we remain compliant as a network.

The GMNS Analytics team within UMGEA is responsible for partnering with global markets to drive profitable growth, accelerating acceptance and amplifying the value of Amex acceptance to Merchants, bank partners and Card Members at scale. We offer powerful data and actionable insights to attract new businesses to engage with Amex, help existing businesses improve performance and capitalize on new opportunities.

Description:

The UMGEA - Global Analytics team is seeking a Manager / Senior Manager, Field Analytics to help lead merchant trigger intelligence and scaled field analytics capabilities. This role will support the continued development and scaling of our flagship analytics-led merchant trigger program that enables field teams to identify out-of-pattern merchant activity, surface actionable leads, and make timely interventions to retain charge volume and improve merchant experience.

The individual will partner closely with Field, Marketing, Product, Technology, Compliance, and business stakeholders to translate merchant needs and business opportunities into scalable analytics solutions. The role will be responsible for advancing deterministic and predictive trigger capabilities, strengthening prioritization and arbitration logic, integrating trigger workflows into enterprise platforms, and building measurement frameworks that quantify business impact, including charge volume retained and merchant issues resolved. The role requires strong analytical judgment, stakeholder management, and the ability to move complex pilots into compliant, production-ready capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development, delivery, and scaling of analytics-driven merchant trigger capabilities to support proactive merchant retention, growth, and experience improvement.
• Translate merchant behavior, transaction patterns, and field feedback into actionable trigger logic, prioritization frameworks, and treatment playbooks that enable targeted merchant treatments.
• Partner with Field, Marketing, Product, Technology, Compliance, and business stakeholders to integrate trigger workflows into scalable platforms.
• Support the transition of analytical pilots into compliant, production-ready capabilities, ensuring alignment with enterprise governance and risk standards.
• Leverage emerging technologies, including GenAI, to improve intelligence and support field enablement.
• Lead and inspire a high-performing analytics team, fostering strong ownership, collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in data or analytics functions with a strong business acumen.
• Intellectual curiosity, agility, and quick learning skills to bring structure to shifting priorities, managing multiple demands, and ambiguity.
• The ability to drive insights from data, manage multiple projects, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills, able to challenge the status quo and inspire a team.
• Excellent business writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and influence at all levels.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with Google Bigquery, SQL, R, Python, Lumi, PySpark and Tableau.
• Experience in the merchant business preferred.
• Experience in Machine Learning/ Cloud / Gen AI is a plus.

Academic Background:

• Bachelors in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/ Engineering/Data Science with relevant experience.
• Post Graduation in Statistics/Mathematics/ Economics/Engineering/Management is a plus.
