American Express is a New York financial services company founded in 1850 as an express freight business that became a payments network and card issuer. Unlike the four-party networks it competes with, it issues most of its own cards and operates its own network, which lets it earn merchant discount revenue as well as interest and annual fees, and supports a premium rewards proposition built on travel and lounge access. Its business spans consumer and small business cards, corporate payments, merchant acquiring and travel services, and it is a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

American Express Digital Labs is seeking a Senior Manager of Digital Product Management to join our Digital Wallets team and help shape the future of digital payments at American Express.

Amex Digital Labs’ mission is to build the future of payments and membership, creating new value that evolves with our customers' needs and drives deeper engagement and loyalty. We leverage emerging technologies to deliver innovations that enhance how customers pay, travel, dine, and experience the brand.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to own product strategy and delivery for the ApplePay and SamsungPay digital wallet experiences. This is a highly visible role at the intersection of payments, technology, customer experience, and some of the world’s leading technology platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for key digital wallet experiences, setting priorities and identifying opportunities to create greater value for our customers and the business.
  • Shape the end-to-end customer experience across the digital wallet journey, from adding and managing a Card to using it for everyday payments and emerging commerce experiences.
  • Lead product relationships with strategic technology partners, including Apple and Samsung, shaping joint priorities and identifying opportunities to evolve and expand our wallet experiences.
  • Bring new products and capabilities from concept to market, working across engineering, design, analytics, marketing, servicing, risk, legal, compliance, and other teams to deliver at scale.
  • Drive critical product decisions and tradeoffs, balancing customer value, business impact, technical complexity, partner priorities, and risk.
  • Lead execution across complex initiatives, navigating dependencies, removing obstacles, managing risks, and ensuring teams remain aligned from development through launch.
  • Measure and improve product performance, using customer feedback, behavioral data, experimentation, and market insights to identify opportunities and continuously improve the experience.
  • Build alignment and influence across the organization, communicating recommendations, decisions, progress, and results to senior leaders and stakeholders across American Express.
  • Anticipate what’s next in digital payments, monitoring changes in technology, customer behavior, and the competitive landscape and translating them into opportunities for American Express.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for an accomplished product leader who is equally comfortable thinking strategically and getting into the details required to deliver. You bring strong product judgment, curiosity, and customer empathy, and you thrive in environments where success depends on collaboration, influence, and navigating complexity.

Please note we are unable to sponsor any work visas at this time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of digital product management experience, with a track record of successfully building and launching high-impact digital products or experiences.
  • Demonstrated product leadership, including the ability to operate in ambiguity, structure complex problems, exercise sound judgment, and confidently make decisions with imperfect information.
  • People leadership and coaching experience, with a passion for developing talent, providing actionable feedback, and empowering others to take ownership.
  • Strong technical fluency and experience working closely with engineering teams, with the ability to understand technical considerations and effectively bridge business, customer, and technology perspectives.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with experience using quantitative and qualitative insights to diagnose problems, evaluate opportunities, and assess product performance.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics, develop compelling recommendations, and communicate effectively with audiences ranging from working teams to senior executives.
  • Experience building strong relationships across organizational boundaries, including the ability to collaborate effectively with external technology partners and navigate competing priorities.
  • A highly customer-centric mindset, with strong instincts for what makes an exceptional digital experience and a willingness to challenge existing approaches when there is a better way.
  • Intellectual curiosity and systems thinking, with an ability to connect seemingly disparate customer, technology, market, and business signals and turn them into actionable insights.
  • Adaptability and a test-and-learn mindset, with a willingness to experiment, seek feedback, learn quickly, and adjust course as new information emerges.
  • Experience in digital payments, wallets, fintech, consumer technology, platform products, or related digital ecosystems is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
