responsible for building and optimizing the customer-facing web experiences that power acquisition and onboarding for Commercial customers globally.\n\nAs a Software Engineer II, you will be a frontend-focused individual contributor who designs, builds, and maintains performant, accessible, and resilient web applications that directly impact customer conversion and experience.\n\nYou will work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and analytics partners to deliver high-quality user experiences while continuing to deepen your technical expertise and expand your mentorship impact within the team.\n\nDesign, develop, test, deploy, and maintain modern frontend applications with a focus on performance, accessibility, scalability, and reliability.\n\nBuild intuitive, responsive user interfaces that meet business requirements while delivering an exceptional customer experience across devices and browsers.\n\nCollaborate with UX/design partners to translate wireframes and prototypes into high-quality production code.\n\nIntegrate frontend applications with backend services and APIs, ensuring robust data handling, error management, and resilience.\n\nContribute to architectural discussions around frontend patterns, state management, performance optimization, and API design tradeoffs.\n\nWrite clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that adheres to established standards and frontend best practices.\n\nContribute to and improve automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.\n\nReview code for accuracy, quality, accessibility, and maintainability, providing constructive feedback and helping elevate overall engineering excellence.\n\nMonitor and improve application performance using observability tools, analytics, and real-user metrics.\n\nProvide technical mentorship to junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.\n\nParticipate in Agile development practices such as sprint planning, stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.\n\n Education and Knowledge\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or comparable practical experience.\n\nStrong understanding of modern frontend architecture and design patterns.\n\nKnowledge of web fundamentals including HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, browser rendering, and performance optimization.\n\nUnderstanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and responsive design principles.\n\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and modern DevOps practices for frontend applications.\n\nWork Experience and Qualifications\nProfessional experience in frontend software engineering, building customer-facing web applications.\n\nExperience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React or similar component-based frameworks).\n\nExperience integrating with RESTful APIs and backend services.\n\nExperience implementing automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end).\n\nExperience applying code quality, performance optimization, and maintainability standards in a team environment.\n\nExperience working in Agile software development environments (Scrum and/or Kanban).\n\nExperience working in high-traffic or conversion-focused environments is a plus.\n\nEmployment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the
