You should be able to come up with brilliant solutions that no one else can, and be obsessive about UI/UX design and user experience.\nYou’ll be part of the Digital Payments Engineering team whose mandate is to develop new products and platforms for American Express customers. Payments Engineering’s aim is to build interactive experiences at all touch points of a consumer's journey whether before, at, or after the time of purchase. The products will range from new payment vehicles and partnerships with other payment entities to interactive web experiences.\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and microservices using Java.\nWork as part of an Agile engineering team, contributing to user story analysis, technical design, development, testing, and production support.\nDevelop and integrate RESTful APIs following established API design and security best practices.\nWrite clean, maintainable, well-tested, and reusable code while following software engineering best practices.\nWork with relational and NoSQL databases and develop efficient data access patterns.\nTroubleshoot application issues, analyze logs and metrics, and contribute to performance and reliability improvements.\nParticipate in code reviews and collaborate with engineers to continuously improve code quality and engineering standards.\nCollaborate with product owners, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.\nContinuously learn new technologies, frameworks, and engineering practices and apply them to solve business Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.\n5-7 years years of software development experience, preferably developing backend applications using Java.\nUnderstanding of RESTful API design and development principles.\nKnowledge of emerging trends, technologies, and standards in the payments industry.\nKnowledge of emerging trends and standards in blockchain and distributed ledger technologies.\nKnowledge of Web3 technologies and ecosystems.\nExperience with or knowledge of Vert.x.\nFamiliarity with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.\nExperience or familiarity with source control and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, or equivalent technologies. \nAbility to collaborate effectively with engineers, product
