The One Data platform team is focused on building foundational technologies that empower teams across American Express to deliver modern, resilient, and high-performing software solutions.\n Design, develop, and deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions across the full stack using Java and Python for enterprise-grade platform services and applications.\nLead the implementation of distributed systems with a strong emphasis on performance, reliability, maintainability, and operational excellence.\nOwn end-to-end delivery of features, from design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and production support.\nAct as a technical contributor in an Agile environment, guiding best practices in software engineering, testing, documentation, and continuous delivery.\nCollaborate closely with architects, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.\nBuild and evolve RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems with strong service contracts and backward compatibility.\nImprove CI/CD pipelines, automate testing, and enhance developer productivity through modern engineering practices.\nIdentify bottlenecks, debug complex production issues, and perform root-cause analysis to drive long-term fixes.\nDevelop systems with a focus on scalability, resilience, observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting.\nContribute to cloud-native transformation initiatives, including containerization, infrastructure as code, and auto-scaling architectures.\nTake accountability for delivering high-impact outcomes aligned with team and organizational goals.\n 5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong expertise in Java and working knowledge of Python for backend or data-driven applications.\nDeep experience with Java ecosystems and frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, or equivalent technologies.\nProven experience in full-stack development, including backend services and modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar.\nStrong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices, and service-to-service integrations.\nSolid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, scalability, and performance optimization.\nHands-on experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.\nExperience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.\nFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.\nExperience with messaging and streaming platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or JMS.\nPractical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud-native development patterns.\nHands-on experience in test data generation, unit testing, and test execution.\nExperience with API design standards, Open API/Swagger, versioning, and contract-driven development.\nHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.\nProficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern software development lifecycle practices.\nBachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience;
