This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate, efficient accounting operations while supporting the continued growth of American Lumber and the American Trade Group organization.\nThe Accounting Manager will support and help lead the monthly close process, oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Costing functions, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of day-to-day accounting activities. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a commitment to developing people and improving processes.\nThis position reports to the Controller.\nWhat You’ll Do\n\nLead & Develop the Accounting Team\nProvide leadership, training, and oversight for the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Costing functions.\nContribute to and reinforce a collaborative, positive, team-oriented culture.\nChampion cross-training efforts that expand employee skill sets, support professional development, and create reliable backup coverage for key accounting functions.\nAnticipate team needs, proactively address challenges, and support both individual and team success.\nIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes and partner with leadership to implement meaningful enhancements.\nManage Core Accounting Operations\nOwn key components of the monthly close process, including account reconciliations and preparation of journal entries.\nMaintain and support accurate inventory accounting.\nFile and remit state sales tax.\nMaintain fixed asset records and complete property tax renditions.\nEnsure timely and accurate submission of federal and state tax payments.\nSupport internal and external audit processes.\nComplete bank and credit card reconciliations accurately and on time.\nIdentify, recommend, and oversee process improvements that increase accounting efficiency and accuracy.\nAssist with additional accounting and operational responsibilities as needed.\nWho You Are\nAccounting & Leadership Experience\nFive or more years of hands-on accounting experience, including General Ledger responsibilities and significant ownership of the month-end close process.\nTwo or more years of experience leading or supervising accounting personnel and functions.\nThree or more years managing General Ledger operations in manufacturing, distribution, or another inventory-intensive industry is strongly preferred.\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.\nSkills & Qualifications\nExperience working with ERP accounting systems required; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.\nAbility to effectively lead, support, train, and develop team members.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.\nHighly detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize responsibilities, follow through, and consistently meet deadlines.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills,
