This role applies data analysis techniques to insurance data to improve risk segmentation and rate adequacy, supporting profitable growth across products and locations.\nThe P&C Data Analyst works closely with pricing actuaries, underwriting, claims, distribution, product partners, data experts, and IT professionals to translate business questions into analytical solutions and monitor performance over time. This role operates with moderate independence while receiving guidance on more complex problems.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nPricing & Insurance Analytics\nSupport pricing analyses, rate reviews, segmentation evaluations, portfolio monitoring, and performance assessments across Personal and Commercial Lines products\nAnalyze trends in frequency, severity, retention, growth, profitability, and other key insurance performance metrics\nPartner with actuarial, underwriting, and product teams to identify business challenges and develop data-driven recommendations\nAssist in evaluating the impact of underwriting, pricing, and product changes on business performance\nDevelop recurring and ad hoc analyses that support strategic and operational decision-making\n\nData & Technical Skills\nWork with large, structured and semi-structured datasets using SQL and analytical programming languages (e.g., Python or R)\nEnsure data quality, reproducibility, and proper documentation of models, assumptions, and results\nSupport adherence to model development best practices and model risk governance standards\n\nAdvanced Analytics & Data Science Support\nSupport data science and predictive modeling initiatives through data preparation, feature development, exploratory analysis, and model performance reporting\nCollaborate with data scientists and actuarial partners on analytical projects involving risk segmentation, predictive modeling, and portfolio optimization\nDevelop foundational skills in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and analytical programming\nParticipate in testing, monitoring, and implementation of analytical models and business rules\nContribute to the evaluation of new data sources and analytical techniques that improve pricing and underwriting decisions\n\nBusiness Partnership & Communication\nCollaborate with actuarial, underwriting, distribution, and product stakeholders to define analytical questions and success criteria\nTranslate technical analyses into clear, actionable insights using appropriate visualizations and written summaries\nRespond to feedback and iterate on analyses to better support business decisions\nPartner with technical teams to support implementation of analytical and reporting solutions\n\nContinuous Improvement\nIdentify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality, analytical efficiency, and business insights\nStay current on industry trends, pricing methodologies, and analytical best practices within P&C insurance\nContribute ideas for improving models, processes, and data usage within the pricing analytics function\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, computer science, data science, or a related quantitative field\nTwo to four years of relevant experience in data science, analytics, actuarial support, or related quantitative rolesA master’s degree may be considered in lieu of one to two years of experience\n\nProficiency in analytical programming languages and tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R)\nExperience working with large, complex datasets\nStrong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills\nStrong diligence and commitment to data quality\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in Property & Casualty insurance, preferably supporting actuarial, underwriting, claims, or product\nFamiliarity with statistical analysis, predictive modeling, or machine learning concepts\nExperience with data lineage, data mapping, validation, and reconciliation processes\nExposure to cloud-based analytics platforms and modern data environments\nUnderstanding of insurance data structures, coverages, rating variables, and policy lifecycle processes\nExperience working in Agile or cross-functional project environments\nThe base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience.
