We are building a new generation of power plants for a world that desperately needs electricity. We’re developing supercritical CO2 turbomachinery that can turn today’s gas turbines into dramatically more efficient combined-cycle systems initially for the fast-growing data center market. These same systems can also transform how SMRs, geothermal plants, concentrated solar plants, thermal batteries, and industrial processes convert heat to electricity.\nWe’re a team of energy, aerospace, and power-generation veterans building real machines to solve hard problems in energy. We’re looking for exceptional engineers who want broad ownership, fast iteration cycles, and the opportunity to help define both the product and the company.\nRole Overview\nThe Power Electronics Lead owns the path from generator terminals through power conversion and into the customer electrical interface. You will define the conversion architecture, shape the generator interface with the electric-machine and controls teams, lead internal and vendor design programs, and validate the system at power.\nWe expect a high-speed generator with active rectification into a DC architecture, but we want you to challenge assumptions and choose the right implementation. This role sits at the intersection of electric machines, converter hardware, controls, protection, thermal management, and customer integration.\nResponsibilities\nOwn the power-electronics architecture, requirements, interfaces, supplier execution, and validation for the generator output path.\n\nDefine active-rectification and DC-bus architecture in close collaboration with electric-machine, controls, and system engineers.\n\nMake system-level tradeoffs among generator voltage and frequency, semiconductor topology, switching strategy, efficiency, thermal management, harmonics, protection, packaging, and cost.\n\nSpecify semiconductors, power modules, magnetics, capacitors, bus structures, sensing, protection hardware, cooling, and other critical converter components.\n\nOwn electrical interface requirements with customers and external vendors, and lead statements of work, design reviews, acceptance criteria, qualification, and technical issue resolution.\n\nDevelop electrical and loss models, lead converter bring-up and high-power validation, and troubleshoot controls, EMI/EMC, thermal, switching, protection, and machine-interface issues during commissioning.\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n\n5+ years developing medium- or high-power power electronics that progressed from design into tested hardware.\n\nStrong fundamentals in converter topologies, semiconductor switching, gate drives, magnetics, DC-link design, sensing, protection, thermal management, and power quality.\n\nExperience with active rectifiers, inverters, motor drives, grid converters, or comparable multi-kilowatt to megawatt power-conversion systems.\n\nExperience commissioning power electronics on real hardware and debugging switching, controls, thermal, EMI/EMC, or protection issues.\n\nStrong system-level judgment across converter hardware, control behavior, electric-machine interfaces, supplier execution, and customer requirements.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.\n\nExperience with high-speed generators, motor drives, starter-generators, or turboelectric systems.\n\nExperience with SiC or other wide-bandgap power semiconductors.\n\nExperience with data-center electrical systems, UPS architecture, DC distribution, or customer-side power integration.\n\nBenefits & Compensation\nMeaningful equity ownership in an early-stage company.\n\n100% of employee medical premiums and 80% of dependent medical premiums covered.\n\n100% employer-paid dental and vision coverage.\n\nEmployer-paid basic life insurance and long-term disability coverage.\n\n401(k) retirement plan.\n\nUnlimited PTO that we actually expect you to take.\n\n8 weeks of paid parental leave.\n\nSignificant ownership of real hardware.\n\nA beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains from the office.\n\nOur Commitment\nAmerican Supercritical is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate qualified applicants without regard to race, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, marital or veteran status, disability, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.\nOur hiring process is designed to be accessible, fair, and focused on the work that matters most for the role. Reasonable accommodations are available throughout the hiring process and employment.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4706,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Life insurance","Parental leave","Retirement plans","Unlimited PTO"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Electrical & Electronic Engineering","Energy Efficiency","Industrial Machinery"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-02T15:22:51Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":28,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.613,"p_room":0.45,"age_days":42,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:2","win:tail"],"computed_at":"2026-10-24T06:02:35Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":180000,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/american-supercritical-power-electronics-lead","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/american-supercritical-power-electronics-lead.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-24T10:16:14Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":14970,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-25T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3796650},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3796650"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Famerican-supercritical-power-electronics-lead"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Famerican-supercritical-power-electronics-lead"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Famerican-supercritical-power-electronics-lead"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/american-supercritical-power-electronics-lead\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Famerican-supercritical-power-electronics-lead"}]}
