This role requires deep hands-on Linux administration experience paired with strong networking knowledge, including the ability to diagnose and resolve issues across system, application, and network layers. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in secure environments, supporting critical infrastructure, and developing advanced capabilities using shell scripting or Python.\nResponsibilities\nInstall, configure, secure, and maintain Linux operating systems in enterprise and mission-critical environments\nAdminister Linux servers, services, user accounts, file systems, patches, and access controls\nMonitor system performance and availability, analyze logs, and troubleshoot complex operational issues\nServe as a primary technical resource for network troubleshooting across Linux hosts and connected infrastructure\nConfigure, manage, and troubleshoot network services and protocols, including TCP IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and interface bonding\nAnalyze packet flow, connectivity, latency, and service communication issues across local and remote systems\nSupport network integration and interoperability of Linux systems with mission platforms, enclaves, and external interfaces\nDevelop, maintain, and enhance system capabilities using shell scripting and or Python\nImplement system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation in accordance with security requirements\nSupport backup, recovery, continuity, and system restoration procedures\nCollaborate with cybersecurity, network engineering, software, and systems engineering teams to maintain reliable operations\nMaintain technical documentation, network diagrams, system procedures, and configuration baselines\nSupport lab, test, deployment, and operational environments as required\nProvide support for specialized defense systems\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree and 0-2 years of related work experience\nUS Navy and submarine system experience highly desired\nRed Hat/Linux certifications desired\n Strong networking skills desired\n\nPay Transparency Statement\nAMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners.
