This isn’t a temporary position or a role on the sidelines; you’ll have the same leadership responsibilities and impact as any Assistant Store Manager while gaining valuable experience across our operations before transitioning into a permanent store assignment.\n\nAs an Assistant Store Manager (Bench) (ASMB) with America’s Thrift each day will be filled with challenging and exciting work where every day is different! ASMBs are responsible for inspiring their leadership team and team members to live out the America’s Thrift Mission and Values while upholding the company culture. ASMBs are responsible for partnering with their District Manager and Store Leadership Team to meet financial goals to generate the revenue and donations necessary to support the mission, operations and community programs provided by America’s Thrift. ASMBs empower their team while creating an environment for personal and professional growth. The ASMB must have the ability to accomplish profitability through managing operations such as budgeting, financial reporting, profit and loss, identification of high-quality donated items, loss prevention, product quality control, product pricing, and building community rapport with an emphasis on customer relations. Ultimately, you build your team: hiring, training, and developing team members. Supporting the mission is a complex job, but you will get a sense of fulfilment like no other. More importantly, you will get to be a part of a company that is committed to improving our local communities and charity partners! \n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nCollaborates with the Assets Protection (AP) team and/or People and Culture Business Partner (PCBP) to probe incidents related to company assets, equipment, and personnel. Ensures appropriate measures are taken based on investigation outcomes, in coordination with the Store Manager, District Manager (DM) and PCBP. \nUtilizes independent discretion in delegating daily tasks to supervisors, and team members to fulfill operational requirements effectively. \nCoordinates and verifies the precision of deposits/currency exchanges and promptly alert management of any cash, register, or operational concerns. \nLead and inspire a dynamic team, cultivating a supportive and efficient work atmosphere. \nUphold adherence to company policies, local regulations, and safety protocols, ensuring operational excellence. \nConduct regular performance assessments, offering constructive feedback and guidance for continual improvement. \nDevelopment of employee behavior and performance to support their growth with America’s Thrift.\nChampion a culture rooted in trust, employee growth, and sustained engagement through leading by example. \nOffer guidance, coaching, and disciplinary measures, when necessary, to supervisors, and team members. \nFacilitate seamless onboarding and orientation processes, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. \nEnforce company policies, standards, and values to maintain organizational integrity and excellence. \nUtilizes reports regularly to craft/update sales floor layouts to maximize sales potential. \nManages inventory levels across all merchandise categories, ensuring optimal production levels and merchandise quality for enhanced revenue generation. \nOversees the smooth flow of donations, ensuring adherence to standards, safety protocols, security measures, and state regulations. \nSupervises store operations, resources, and budgets, ensuring the fulfillment or surpassing of all set objectives. \nUpholds presentation and merchandising standards on the sales floor. \nAnalyzes sales performance, pinpointing improvement areas and implementing effective strategies to boost sales and achieve targets. \nCollaborates with the Store Manager in executing promotional activities, marketing campaigns, and special events to drive foot traffic and bolster sales. \nSupports the Store Manager in daily operations, encompassing opening and closing procedures, cash management, and staff supervision. \nAssists in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process for new team members as necessary. \nStays abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to capitalize on growth opportunities and foster innovation. \nUphold high standards of visual merchandising, guaranteeing that displays are visually appealing, well-organized, and highlight products effectively. \nAddress customer and employee concerns and grievances promptly and courteously, prioritizing customer satisfaction and loyalty. \nFoster a culture of consistent outstanding customer service, extending to both internal (team members, colleagues, other departments) and external customers (donors, patrons, charity partners). \nEnsure the safety and security of both customers and employees by maintaining a secure environment. Regularly monitor safety protocols and ensure their continual implementation and enforcement. \nOther duties as assigned by management.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nStrong leadership and people-development skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, train, and develop team members to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve results.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.\nStrong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills with keen attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.\nBilingual preferred.\nPrevious leadership experience managing a team of 15 or more employees.\nFlexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.\nAbility and willingness to relocate within Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, or surrounding states.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and point-of-sale (POS) systems.\nValid driver's license in good standing with access to reliable transportation.\nAbility to successfully complete a background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) check, and drug screen.\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS \nAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday, primarily on tile and concrete surfaces.\nAbility to frequently bend, reach at waist and overhead levels, and perform repetitive movements associated with retail and operational activities.\nAbility to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, climb, push, pull, and carry merchandise, equipment, or other materials.\nAbility to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.\nAbility to occasionally push and pull items weighing up to 25 pounds.\nAbility to safely use ladders or other approved equipment and occasionally work at heights of up to approximately 14 feet.\nMust have the visual and auditory ability necessary to communicate effectively, observe store conditions, monitor safety, and perform essential job responsibilities.\nMust be able to work both indoors in a temperature-controlled retail environment and outdoors where exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures may occur.\nAbility to work a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.\nRegular travel is required during the training period and may be required afterward based on business needs.\n\nWHY AMERICA’S THRIFT \n\nFounded in 1984, America’s Thrift is more than a retail company — we are a team driven by purpose, community impact, and opportunity.
