America’s Thrift is seeking Box Truck Drivers for our route collection program who bring a strong work ethic and excellent customer service skills. This position offers a unique opportunity to merge a passion for driving with a commitment to serving the community.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nCompletes daily residential routes to collect clothing, small furniture, and other household items from donors, donation boxes, and designated sites.\nConducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.\nSafely navigates and operates a 24/26-foot box truck through residential streets and confined spaces.\nDelivers outstanding customer service to both customers and donors.\nMaintains communication with the supervisor to accommodate changes in donor requests.\nUpholds a courteous, respectful, and friendly demeanor when interacting with the public.\nCollaborates with the Driver Helper to safely load and unload materials from vehicles, pallets, carts, racks, shelves, etc.\nTransports materials to and from storage or work sites using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other lifting devices, with assistance when needed.\nEfficiently sorts, stacks, and processes incoming donations by category (e.g., clothing, miscellaneous items, electrical) in a safe and organized manner, following company standards during unloading.\nSafely operates compactors and large trash receptacles when required.\nAdheres to all safety protocols by properly wearing and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).\nOther duties as assigned by management.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nMust be at least 21 years old.\nMust have strong navigation skills.\nMust be available to work flexible hours, including days from Monday through Sunday, while adhering to DOT regulated driving hours.\nShould be adaptable with daily schedules to ensure all donor and box routes are completed as planned.\nSuccessful completion of background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen.\nValid driver’s license and a clean driving record.\nLouisiana Only - Candidates employed in Louisiana must possess and maintain a valid Louisiana Class D Chauffeur’s License, as required for the operation of applicable company vehicles.\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS \nMust be able to sit for extended periods while safely operating a 24- to 26-foot box truck and maintaining alertness and focus throughout assigned routes.\nMust be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds, independently or with assistance as appropriate.\nAbility to push and pull loads weighing up to 70 pounds, including donations, carts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.\nMust be able to frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, and reach when collecting, loading, unloading, sorting, and securing donated goods.\nAbility to safely enter and exit the truck cab and cargo area repeatedly throughout the workday.\nMust be able to climb steps and maintain balance while entering or exiting the vehicle and while loading or unloading materials.\nAbility to stand and walk for extended periods while completing donation pickups, loading and unloading the truck, and processing donated materials.\nMust possess sufficient hand and finger dexterity to operate vehicle controls, secure cargo, handle donated items, and use material-handling equipment.\nAbility to safely handle donations of varying sizes, shapes, weights, and conditions, including clothing, household goods, small furniture, boxes, bags, and miscellaneous items.\nMust have adequate vision, hearing, and depth perception to safely operate a commercial-sized vehicle, navigate traffic and confined areas, identify hazards, and perform vehicle inspections.\nAbility to perform repetitive physical movements associated with loading, unloading, sorting, stacking, and transporting donated goods throughout the workday.\nMust be able to work both indoors and outdoors and tolerate varying environmental and weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and exposure to vehicle and roadway conditions.\nAbility to work in and around moving vehicles, loading areas, donation sites, compactors, large trash receptacles, and other operational equipment while following established safety procedures.\nMust be able to wear and properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).\nMust be physically capable of performing assigned duties for extended shifts while maintaining the alertness, coordination, and stamina necessary for safe vehicle operation and material handling.\n\nWHY AMERICA’S THRIFT \n\nFounded in 1984, America’s Thrift is more than a retail company — we are a team driven by purpose, community impact, and opportunity.
