The Manager III is responsible for inspiring the store leadership team and team members to live out the America’s Thrift mission and values while upholding company culture. In partnership with the District Manager and Store Leadership Team, this role leads the location’s financial and operational performance, including budgeting, financial reporting, profit and loss, donated-product quality, loss prevention, pricing, production, merchandising, customer relations, and community engagement. The Manager III builds a strong team through hiring, training, coaching, succession planning, and development while creating an environment for personal and professional growth.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nLead assistant managers as they oversee retail, processing, dock, and other store teams.\nInterview and hire candidates for employment with America’s Thrift and identify and recommend team members with proven performance for advancement.\nLead by example to create a culture based on trust, employee development, accountability, and ongoing engagement.\nMaintain a strong focus on employee development, bench building, and succession planning to support the continued growth of America’s Thrift.\nEnsure team members are trained within designated timeframes on job duties, company expectations, policies, and procedures.\nCoach, counsel, and lead assistant managers, supervisors, and team members regarding job performance and, when necessary, administer appropriate corrective action.\nPartner with the Asset Protection team and People & Culture Business Partner to investigate incidents involving company property, equipment, personnel, or operations and take appropriate action in coordination with the District Manager.\nUse company reports to create and maintain sales floor layouts that maximize sales opportunities.\nExercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to assistant managers, supervisors, and team members to achieve operational objectives.\nCoordinate and ensure the accuracy of deposits and change orders and promptly report cash, register, or operating issues.\nPartner with the District Manager and People & Culture Business Partner to report and address workplace concerns, including harassment or EEO-related issues.\nOversee onboarding and orientation and ensure required employment documentation is complete and accurate.\nOversee store operations, resources, budgets, and financial performance to ensure goals are met or exceeded.\nCreate an atmosphere of ongoing exceptional customer service for internal and external customers, including team members, donors, shoppers, and charity partners.\nManage inventory levels across all merchandise categories and oversee production levels and merchandise quality to optimize revenue generation.\nMonitor and ensure the smooth and effective flow of donations in accordance with published standards, safety requirements, security procedures, and applicable regulations.\nMaintain high standards for sales floor presentation and merchandising.\nMaintain a safe and secure environment for customers and team members and ensure safety and security procedures are consistently followed.\nComply with and enforce company policies, standards, procedures, and values.\nOther duties as assigned by management.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nAt least 5 years of management experience in a retail, production, logistics, or processing environment, or 2 years of successful, proven thrift management experience.\nBasic math and computer skills, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets, understand computerized time and attendance systems, and use POS systems.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.\nStrong focus on maintaining and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).\nDemonstrated ability to embrace change and ambiguity and make sound decisions.\nExperience hiring, training, coaching, and developing staff.\nProven ability to inspire and develop store team members to consistently provide exceptional customer service and drive results.\nExcellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills.\nAbility to interact tactfully and professionally with peers, direct reports, vendors, customers, and community partners.\nAbility to conduct business with a strong sense of urgency.\nAbility to work with all levels of employees to identify and implement process improvements.\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively.\nExcellent time management, delegation, organizational skills, and attention to detail.\nValid driver’s license in good standing with access to reliable transportation.\nSuccessful completion of a background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nAbility to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8–10 hours per shift, on tile and concrete surfaces.\nAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.\nAbility to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach at or above shoulder level, balance, and safely climb ladders up to approximately 14 feet.\nAbility to move throughout all areas of the store, production floor, warehouse, donation processing areas, loading docks, and outdoor workspaces.\nAbility to use hands and fingers for handling, grasping, feeling, and operating equipment and technology.\nAbility to effectively communicate in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication methods, including the ability to hear and speak clearly.\nAbility to visually inspect merchandise, equipment, facilities, and work areas to ensure quality, safety, merchandising, and operational standards are maintained.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions and respond quickly to operational, customer service, staffing, and safety-related situations.\nAbility to operate standard office equipment and technology, including computers, tablets, telephones, printers, and point-of-sale systems.\nAbility to safely operate company vehicles and material-handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, when certified and authorized.\nAbility to travel between store locations, training events, and company meetings as required.\nWork is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including retail, warehouse, and donation-processing areas, with exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, noise levels, dust, odors, and second-hand merchandise.\nAbility to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as business needs require.\nAbility to perform the essential
