The Director of Government Affairs, JAPAC, will lead regional government affairs and healthcare policy coordination across the Japan Asia Pacific (JAPAC) region, supporting Amgen’s strategic priorities related to healthcare policy, pricing, intellectual property, trade, patient access, and healthcare system sustainability. This role will serve as a key connector between affiliate, regional, and global teams, translating global policy priorities into actionable regional strategies and supporting aligned, effective engagement with policymakers, payers, industry associations, and external stakeholders across diverse JAPAC markets.

  • Coordinate closely with Washington DC, global, and ELMAC teams to ensure alignment on policy positions, advocacy priorities, and external messaging across regional and global initiatives.
  • Support affiliate government affairs and policy teams in developing strategic narratives, stakeholder engagement plans, and approved messaging for engagements with government officials, payers, trade associations, and industry stakeholders across topics including pricing, reimbursement, intellectual property, biosimilars, tariffs, artificial intelligence, and healthcare system sustainability.
  • Ensure regional and affiliate leaders are prepared to articulate Amgen’s perspectives on key healthcare policy, trade, pricing, and industry issues through briefing materials, leadership messaging, and strategic guidance.
  • Support affiliates in assessing and responding to evolving government lead policy developments through timely policy guidance, cross-market insights, and sharing of relevant best practices.
  • Bring affiliate perspectives, market intelligence, and regional insights into global government affairs and policy discussions, helping shape coordinated strategies across markets and regions.
  • Develop and maintain strategic policy narratives, leadership briefing materials, stakeholder communications, and engagement content to support effective and consistent external engagement across the region.
  • Collaborate across regions and with global partners to share insights, align approaches on common policy priorities, and identify emerging trends impacting pricing, access, intellectual property, trade, and healthcare systems.
  • Represent Amgen in relevant regional industry associations, policy forums, and external engagements, contributing to collective advocacy efforts and strengthening Amgen’s policy leadership across JAPAC.
  • Communicate regularly with regional and global leadership, providing clear and concise assessments of policy developments, risks, opportunities, and strategic considerations impacting the business.
