In this vital role you will be responsible for the invention, development, and implementation of drug substance manufacturing processes and technologies to advance Amgen's exciting portfolio of synthetic and hybrid assets. Process chemists within our team apply their synthetic training to invent synthetic routes and chemical processes to support drug substance manufacturing from early to late-stage development.\n· Invent synthetic routes and develop safe, robust, and cost-effective processes to manufacture synthetic and hybrid drug substances\n· Advance enabling technologies to accelerate pharmaceutical development and to improve sustainability and process efficiency\n· Support cGMP manufacturing and technology transfer to our internal manufacturing facilities and external contract manufacturers\n· Ensure process performance through process understanding, modeling and characterization\n· Contribute to drug substance development teams by providing experimental results, technical updates, documentation, data interpretation, recommendations, etc.\n· Work cross-functionally to deliver regulatory documents and support regulatory filings\n· Serve as a technical expert and keep current in the field of organic and process chemistry\n· Work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team of chemists, engineers and attribute scientists\n· Work independently in advancing projects and studies within required deadlines.\nWhat we expect of you\nWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The professional we seek is highly motivated with these qualifications.\nBasic Qualifications:\nDoctorate degree PhD OR PharmD OR MD \nOR\nMaster’s degree and 3 years of industry experience\nOR\nBachelor’s degree and 5 years of industry experience\nPreferred Qualifications:\n· Ph.D. in organic chemistry and/or biochemistry with a specialization in total synthesis, reaction methodology, mechanistic studies, biocatalysis, peptide chemistry, oligonucleotide chemistry, and/or conjugation chemistry\n· Post-doctoral experience in an academic laboratory or pharmaceutical/biotech industry\n· Track record of peer-reviewed publications and research presentations\n· Demonstrated ability to work within a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment to achieve results\n· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multitask, effectively plan and follow through on complex projects\n· A research summary included with CV is strongly encouraged\nWhat you can expect from us\nAs we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being.
