The role requires the holder to actively participate in and support various IT systems and associated projects, particularly the ongoing progression toward Azure Cloud and the Microsoft 365 stack.\nThe role is expected to work with and support management and the wider team in improving and enhancing key systems and processes. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be a subject-matter expert leading by example and providing mentorship on best practices to the wider IT function, ensuring that systems and services are available, visible, and secure.\nThe role requires a broad set of skills underpinned by a high degree of flexibility, adaptability, and a keen mind for determined problem-solving. Elements of the role will also present opportunities to represent the IT function across business areas as an interface with functional leaders and other consumers of the IT service around the firm. Key to your success will be your ability to communicate with others at all levels, work multiple issues alongside planning and delivering several workstreams, and ensure you deliver against commitments while maintaining an engaging, confident, can-do attitude. In achieving success, you will have access to and experience a wide range of IT products and services from traditional on-prem, through hyper-converged, to Cloud technologies.\nWhat you will be doing:\n As an Infrastructure Engineer, your responsibilities and duties include:\nBeing responsible for the ongoing stability and availability of systems.\nMonitoring, maintaining, and supporting systems and software to ensure stability and compliance with technology standards.\nPerforming maintenance, including the installation of patches and upgrades with an understanding of the production environment and continuous availability targets.\nFull accountability for allocated project actions, technical problems, and incidents.\nEvent detection, resolution, and/or escalation - conducting root cause analysis and remediation as required.\nMonitoring systems availability, performance, capacity, and trends against baseline metrics.\nGenerating system insights by leveraging monitoring and event tools to support stabilisation and lifecycle management.\nDeveloping in-depth knowledge of supported systems and applications and transferring knowledge to more junior staff.\nVulnerability management by assessing security status and applying mitigation solutions.\nFostering strategic partnerships with technology vendors, internal user groups, technical IT consultants, and project managers, moving beyond transactional relationships.\nDemonstrating subject-matter technical expertise across Microsoft technologies, virtualisation, Cloud technologies, networking, and storage.\nExecuting and refining full-scale production Disaster Recovery (DR) and failover testing.\nEnsuring technical documents and policies are up-to-date, accurate, and adhered to.\n\nAdditional Responsibilities:\nWork with and support the architecture and project delivery teams to deliver short, medium, and long-term continuous improvement initiatives across our infrastructure and delivered services, in alignment with our firm’s vision and ambition.\nActively drive the migration, optimisation, and management of workloads into the Azure cloud ecosystem.\nBe actively involved in the firm's security posture and ensure that everything introduced is implemented securely.\nContribute to the firm’s ESG and Net Zero targets by ensuring infrastructure efficiency and optimising data centre power usage.\nThrough the firm's comprehensive training programme, continuously develop your skills and support the development of more junior team members by providing mentorship and acting as a point of escalation for difficult issues.\nWork to resolve issues and incidents in a timely manner aligned with ITIL best practices.\nProvide technical peer review and conduct rigorous smoke testing for proposed changes to be made to the estate, reducing reliance on standalone UAT.\nActively participate in the Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and manage change within the infrastructure team.\nEnsure that all services are appropriately licensed and assist with tracking and costing licence and certificate renewals.\nReview logs, monitoring solutions, alerts, and other items to ensure that IT systems and services are available, performant, and secure at all times.\nWhat you will need:\n Essential Skills:\nExperienced in change management and scheduling.\nStrong understanding of Infrastructure technology and protocols.\nMicrosoft solutions (Exchange, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, SQL, VPN, DNS, DHCP) including cloud-based architecture (Azure, Exchange Online, Arc, Intune, Endpoint Management).\nMicrosoft 365 administration and security.\nExperience in virtualisation technologies (VMware and Nutanix preferred).\nWindows Server Infrastructure.\nHPE Server and Blade Infrastructure.\nNetworking (HPE ProCurve and FlexFabric).\nSAN technology (ideally Nimble, Alletra, and 3PAR).\nCitrix Virtual Apps and Desktop experience with a good understanding of Citrix ADC.\nA good understanding of firewalls (ideally FortiGate) and modern secure network architectures (e.g., SASE).\nScripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell) to support cloud operations.\nQualifications:\n5+ years of hands-on experience working as part of an infrastructure delivery team.\nChange management experience.\nStrong communication skills.
