When you join our team, you join a dynamic culture in which career development is encouraged, excellence is rewarded, and diversity is valued.\nPOSITION OVERVIEW:\nThe Engineering Manager - Substation will provide engineering expertise and technical support throughout the project lifecycle and support field operations, customer account management, procurement, and key stakeholder groups within Quanta. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with extensive experience in high voltage substation projects. This position will report to the Engineering Director and be the manager of the substation design teams supporting substation projects across the QISG platform.\nWhat You'll Do\nOversee projects from inception to completion, including planning, design, construction support, and closeout. \nSupervise a team of engineers, designers, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. \nEvaluate and monitor engineering contractors and consultants.\nAssist in selection, training, coaching of direct reports to build effective teams.\nAssign tasks to project design team based on project needs\nEnsure projects are on budget and schedule while ensuring cost-effective solutions. \nOversee quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and materials. \nEnsure project team applies engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI\nPerform quality reviews to check for inaccuracies, omissions, or compliance issues, and provide recommendations.\nWork collaboratively with designers and project teams to develop solutions and modifications as needed.\nBring potential project-related problems and possible solutions for the attention of the party responsible.\nTravel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nWhat You'll Bring\nBachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.\nP.E. license is required.\nExpert understanding of the major components of a substation is required.\nExperience in personnel management.\nMinimum of 10 years’ experience in the electric utility industry performing detailed engineering for high voltage substation projects. \nStrong technical expertise in structural, civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering, with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practices.\nExpert knowledge of electric utility engineering and construction standards.\nStrong understanding of industry specific software packages.\nKnowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimates.\nDemonstrated experience supporting external customers.\nExcellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners.\nKnowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IEEE, NEC, NESC, and others.\nAbility to work in a team environment.\nAble to deal with ambiguity and ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment.\nTravel Requirements: \nRole will require travel as necessary to achieve job responsibilities, up to 10-25% of the time. \nWhat You'll Get\nCompetitive Compensation\n401(k) Retirement Plan\nHoliday Pay\nPaid Time Off (PTO)\nComprehensive Health Coverage\nPet Insurance\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)\nProfessional Development\nEducation Reimbursement\nEmployee Discount Program\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, sex (including gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, and/or gender identity), age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, and/or any other basis protected by applicable federal, state or local law.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
