Quanta’s focus on the utility industry and HBK’s focus on constructability in our designs has made our integration into the Quanta family of companies seamless.\nAbout this Role\nHBK Engineering is seeking a Field Technician traveling nearly 100% of the time for on-site work. This position is responsible for performing surveying duties, while work directly with Field Leads, Safety Managers and Project Managers to meet the needs of HBK’s field services. Working Location: West Monroe, LA\nWhat You'll Do\nConducts surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and man-made structures on the surface and underground\nOperates surveying instruments such as Total Station and GPS survey equipment\nRecords survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, and sketches\nSearches for property corners and survey monuments\nPositions and holds vertical rods or targets that Total Station operators use for sighting to measure angles, distances, and elevations\nLay out and recovers stakes, marks, and other monumentation\nPerforms surveys of existing utility and/or street light poles utilizing total station, rangefinders, di-electric height sticks, target poles and/or GPS survey equipment\nTake detailed field notes and photographs\nWork directly with survey crew lead to ensure proper and efficient use of survey equipment\nWhat You'll Bring\nMinimum Qualifications\nOne (1) year of OSP construction, survey, or engineering experience in aerial or underground environment is required\nAbility to travel up to 90% of the time and work nights/weekends when required\nPerform topographic surveys, aerial utility surveys, and construction staking\nOperate a variety of survey equipment, including total stations and GPS\nHigh school diploma or GED certificate\nEssential Skills\nSelf-motivated, proactive with good interpersonal and effective communication skills\nValid driver’s license (CDL not required)\nValued but not Required Skills and Experience\nExperience with infrastructure, utility, and/or construction projects\nKnowledge of total station survey equipment and GPS survey equipment\nBasic proficiency in Microsoft Excel\nKnowledge of AutoCAD\nConstruction experience\nFormal survey training preferred but not required.\nAbility to Learn and understand HBK survey methods and standards\nTools and Equipment Used\nTrimble Robotic total station\nTripod\nMotor vehicle\nMobile Phone\nCamera\nTrimble GPS R12i\nMeasuring wheel\nMetal detectors\nPhysical Requirements\nPhysically capable of moving about on construction work sites, public streets, and parkway\nCapable of lifting to 40lbs\nAbility to walk and stand outdoors for extended periods of time\nAbility to sit, kneel, and squat on a daily basis - minimal frequency of kneeling and squatting\nHand-eye coordination necessary to operate surveying equipment and measurements\nWork Environment\nWork safely outside in all weather conditions year-round\nFrequently work in excavations areas and roadways\nOccasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration\nThe noise level in the work environment is occasionally moderate to loud\nMay be required to work nights or weekends\nMay be required to travel\nWhat You'll Get\nComprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability and employer paid life insurance.
