With 1,500 employees across multiple business units, we are committed to delivering quality, safety, and excellence in every project.\nJob Summary\nDesign Technician II is responsible for producing detailed design documents and technical drawings for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems in multi-family new construction projects. This role involves supporting engineers and project managers through all project phases-from schematic design to construction administration-while ensuring that all MEP systems are coordinated, efficient, and compliant with applicable codes and standards.\nKey Responsibilities Include: (But not limited to the following)\nDesign & Drafting:\nDevelop and modify detailed MEP construction documents using AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other design software.\nCreate coordinated layouts for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems within multi-family residential buildings.\nPrepare riser diagrams, single-line diagrams, load calculations, and equipment schedules.\nAssist in developing design options and value-engineering alternatives to meet project budgets and performance goals.\nProject Coordination:\nCollaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless system integration.\nSupport senior engineers in reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs during construction.\nParticipate in design review meetings and coordination sessions with clients and contractors.\nTechnical & Code Compliance:\nApply knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including IPC, IMC, NEC, ASHRAE, and local jurisdiction requirements.\nConduct preliminary load and pressure drop calculations for HVAC and plumbing systems.\nAssist in the preparation of energy code compliance documentation.\nQuality & Documentation:\nMaintain organized and accurate drawing sets and project documentation.\nEnsure design output meets company and client quality standards.\nSupport continuous improvement of design templates, standards, and workflows.\nQualifications\nEducation & Experience:\nAssociate’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience) or willingness to obtain.\nAutodesk Certifications (CAD, REVIT, Navisworks, Bluebeam) preferred.\n3-5 years of experience in MEP design, preferably within the multi-family or residential new construction sector.\nWorking knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems design fundamentals.\nTechnical Skills:\nProficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP required.\nFamiliarity with design tools such as Carrier HAP, Trace 700, or similar HVAC load programs preferred.\nStrong understanding of building codes and construction documents.\nAbility to read and interpret architectural and structural plans.\nSoft Skills:\nExcellent attention to detail and organizational skills.\nStrong communication and teamwork abilities.\nAbility to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.\nProblem-solving and adaptability to various project needs.\nApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without future employment sponsorship\nRecruitment Agencies\nTo protect the interests of all parties, AMPAM WILL NOT accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than directly from a candidate.
