Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources - including solar, gas, and batteries - at a massive scale.\nAnd yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn’t meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today’s infrastructure equipment can’t match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.\nWe’ve built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that’s now ready for commercial deployment.\nOur products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow’s most demanding energy consumers.\nScalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.\nAmperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.\nWith hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.\nJoin us in building the power foundation of the future!\nRole Summary \nAs a Power Electronics Control Intern, you will contribute to the design, modeling, analysis, and validation of advanced power conversion systems, including AC-DC and DC-DC converters used in low-voltage and medium-voltage applications. This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world power electronics development, with an emphasis on control systems, system-level behavior, and laboratory validation. You will work closely with experienced power electronics, firmware, and system engineers, contributing through analysis, simulation, implementation support, and experimental evaluation of advanced power converters under technical guidance.\nResponsibilities: \nAssist in modeling and analysis of power converters and control loops using control-oriented techniques. \n\nSupport development and evaluation of control strategies for AC-DC and DC-DC power converters. \nHelp characterize system behavior, including stability, transient response, and operating limits. \nParticipate in laboratory testing, debugging, and validation of power electronics hardware. \nSupport data collection, analysis, and documentation of experimental results. \nCollaborate with hardware, firmware, and system engineers on power electronics development tasks. \n\nContribute to simulation and modeling activities using industry-standard tools. \nFollow safe laboratory practices when working with high-voltage and high-power systems. \nQualifications: \nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. \nAcademic coursework or project experience in power electronics, control systems, or related areas. \nBasic understanding of power converter operation and control concepts. \nFamiliarity with control fundamentals such as feedback, stability, and transient response. \nAbility to analyze technical problems and learn new concepts quickly. \nWillingness to work hands-on in a laboratory environment under supervision. \nBonus Qualifications: \nCoursework or project experience involving power electronics converters or control systems. \nExposure to modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or PSIM. \nBasic programming experience in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB. \nFamiliarity with laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and power supplies. \nInterest in advanced power conversion systems (e.g., medium-voltage, multilevel, or SST architectures). \n\nWhat You Will Learn: \nPractical control-oriented modeling and analysis of power converters \nHands-on experience validating control concepts on real hardware. \nExposure to AC-DC and DC-DC converter architectures across LV and MV systems. \nHow control, hardware, and firmware interact in real-world power electronics systems. \nIndustry best practices for testing, debugging, and documentation\nPlease note: This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options. \nCandidate Confidentiality & Information Protection \nAs part of our commitment to protecting confidential and proprietary information, candidates should not discloseor provide Amperesandwith any confidential, proprietary, or trade secret information belonging to a current or former employer or any other third party during the application or interview process. \nPlease do not submitor present employer-owned source code, schematics, designs, technical documentation, internal presentations, customer information, prototypes, or other confidential materials. Candidates should discuss their experience and accomplishments at an appropriate leveland use only information and materials they are authorized toshare. \nPay Disclosure & Benefits\nCompensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. \nThe benefits outlined below apply exclusively to employees located in the United States.\nCompetitive Salary + Incentive Stock Options \nMedical, vision, and dental benefits for employees and their dependents, effective from the start of hire \nCompany paid Basic Life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance \n401k retirement savings plan through Empower \nEmployees receive paid time off (PTO), paid sick days, and paid company holidays \nCommuter Benefits \n100% paid maternal leave (12 weeks) and paternal leave (6 weeks) \nSingapore-based employees receive benefits in accordance with local government provisions.\nEqual Employment Opportunity \nAmperesand is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practices laws.
