Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources - including solar, gas, and batteries - at a massive scale.\nAnd yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn’t meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today’s infrastructure equipment can’t match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.\nWe’ve built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that’s now ready for commercial deployment.\nOur products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow’s most demanding energy consumers.\nScalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.\nAmperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.\nWith hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.\nJoin us in building the power foundation of the future!\nOur first Solid State Transformer systems are being designed into live data center projects alongside hyperscale end customers and their switchgear and integration partners. Those programs run on a steady cadence of technical submittals, design reviews, and interface decisions - and they move at the pace of the customer's site schedule.\nAs a Technical Account Manager, you are the single technical owner of those relationships. You sit between the customer's electrical engineering team and ours, you author and defend the drawings and documents we submit, and you make sure every committed deliverable lands on time and correct. This is a hands-on engineering role with an account owner's accountability, not a coordination role.\nResponsibilities\nOwn the technical relationship with key accounts. Be the named technical point of contact for a portfolio of strategic data center customers and their OEM, EPC, and switchgear integration partners. Run the recurring technical reviews, lead design workshops, and be the person the customer's engineers call first.\nAuthor and own single line diagrams. Produce and maintain customer-facing SLDs covering the MV path, transformer winding configurations and topologies, protection devices and functions, auxiliary power distribution, generators, BESS/DC-DC interfaces, and test bed and FAT configurations. Drive these to internal review and alignment before they go out, and iterate against customer markups.\nPrepare and deliver technical documentation. Own the submittal packages behind program milestones: staged design document submissions, system block diagrams, sequences of operation, state diagrams, protection function schedules, datasheets and rating plates, skid and site layouts, interface control documents, serviceable parts BOMs, and FAT plans and reports.\nManage customer deliverables end to end. Maintain the deliverable schedule and design decision tracker for your accounts. Break customer commitments into internal actions across electrical, mechanical, firmware, software, compliance, quality, and supply chain; drive them to closure; and escalate early when a date is at risk.\nRun customer communications. Own RFI and technical inquiry responses, action item logs, meeting minutes, and status reporting. Give the customer a clear, accurate, single answer - and give leadership an honest read on program health.\nSupport FAT, commissioning, and energization. Partner with Test, Quality, and Service on factory acceptance testing, witness events, punch list closure, site acceptance, and handover documentation.\nBring the customer's voice back inside. Translate field and interface requirements into product requirements. Represent real deployment constraints in specification and design reviews so the next generation is easier to integrate, permit, and service.\nSupport new business technically. Join technical due diligence and evaluation conversations with prospective customers, and build the confidence that Amperesand can execute.\nQualifications\nBS/MS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated technical depth in power systems.\n4+ years in a customer-facing technical role - applications engineering, technical account management, systems engineering, or design engineering with direct customer ownership.\nStrong working knowledge of data center electrical design and power infrastructure: medium voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, UPS and BESS, standby generation, transfer schemes, and common redundancy topologies.\nDemonstrated ability to author single line diagrams independently - not just review them - using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Visio, draw.io, or equivalent.\nPractical understanding of protection and coordination: transformer winding configurations (wye-wye vs. delta-wye) and their fault behavior, grounding schemes, ANSI protective functions, short circuit and arc flash considerations, and utility interconnection requirements.\nTrack record producing customer-grade technical documentation and submittal packages under revision control, and defending them in front of a demanding customer's engineering team.\nProgram discipline: comfortable running deliverable trackers, decision logs, and milestone schedules in Jira, Confluence, or equivalent, and holding cross-functional partners to dates.\nExcellent written and verbal communication. Able to hold a technical line with a customer, say \"I'll get you an answer\" and then actually close the loop.\nWillingness to travel up to 50% to customer sites, partners, and manufacturing, including international travel as the business expands.\nPreferred Qualifications\nDirect experience with hyperscale or colocation data center projects, from the owner, EPC, OEM, or equipment supplier side.\nBackground in power electronics, inverters, BESS, or medium voltage power conversion.\nExperience with auxiliary power system design (48VDC / 125VDC), controls integration, and industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, or IEC 61850.\nFamiliarity with applicable standards - IEEE C57, IEEE 1547, IEC 62477, UL 1741, NFPA 70/70E - and with compliance and certification workflows.\nHands-on FAT, commissioning, or startup experience on grid-connected equipment.\nExperience at an early-stage hardware company introducing a new product category to conservative infrastructure buyers.\nSF Pay Range\n$145,000—$170,000 USD\nPlease note: This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options. \nWhile this role is listed for the location above, we may consider candidates in other locations on a case-by-case basis.\nOnsite Collaboration Rationale:\nGiven the highly collaborative and cross-functional nature of hardware, embedded systems, and product development, in-person partnership across engineering and product teams is critical to enabling rapid execution, technical alignment, and successful development outcomes.\nWhy Join Amperesand\nWork on next-generation power infrastructure systems\nHigh ownership and visibility\nCross-functional collaboration\nOpportunity to shape future products and infrastructure\nFast-moving startup environment\nPay Disclosure & Benefits\nCompensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. \nThe benefits outlined below apply exclusively to employees located in the United States:\nCompetitive Salary + Incentive Stock Options \nMedical, vision, and dental benefits for employees and their dependents, effective from the start of hire \nCompany paid Basic Life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance \n401k retirement savings plan through Empower \nEmployees receive paid time off (PTO), paid sick days, and paid company holidays \nCommuter Benefits \n100% paid maternal leave (12 weeks) and paternal leave (6 weeks) \nThe benefits outlined below apply to employees located in Singapore:\nCompetitive Salary + Incentive Stock Options\nGroup medical, hospitalisation and surgical insurance, outpatient or GP coverage, group term life, dental and personal accident insurance\nEmployer and employee Central Provident Fund contributions in accordance with the CPF Act (for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents)\nAnnual leave, paid sick leave, hospitalisation leave, and all Singapore public holidays, in line with or exceeding the Employment Act\nCommuter Benefits\nGovernment-paid maternity, paternity, shared parental, and childcare leave in accordance with prevailing Singapore statutory entitlements \nAdditional benefits may be available depending on the role and employment type.
