Exceptional Children's Teacher/TVI | Up to $45/hour | Winston-Salem, NC | Full-Time | 2026-2027 School Year
This position is for Exceptional Children's Teachers who are interested in becoming Teachers of the Visually Impaired.
Position Details
- Full Time, 1.0 FTE
- For the 2026-2027 school year, for the entire school year
What You’ll Do
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments in alignment with their IEPs
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments to guide instructional planning
- Adapt materials into accessible formats such as braille, large print, and tactile graphics
- Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to support student access and success
- Support development of independence, assistive technology use, and compensatory skills
What We’re Looking For
- Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visually Impaired (or area of Exceptional Children's Teaching)
- Must have scheduled Praxis Exam scheduled for NCDPI TVI license

What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
- Provide specialized instruction across academic subjects
- Manage classroom behavior and create a structured, supportive environment
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Write progress reports and maintain compliant documentation
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies for diverse learning needs
- Incorporate technology and resources to enhance learning
What We’re Looking For
- MUST HAVE: NCDPI License in Visually Impaired (or area of Exceptional Children's Teaching)
- Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
