You’ll work across technical accounting, SEC reporting, SOX, complex transactions, and acquisition integration, partnering with leaders throughout Finance, Legal, Operations, IT, and our global businesses.\nThe role is particularly well suited for someone who has built a strong technical accounting foundation-whether through public accounting, a public company environment, or a combination of both-and is ready for broader exposure and the opportunity to help shape accounting practices as the company grows.\nWhat You’ll Do\nServe as a key technical accounting resource, researching and evaluating complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP and developing clear, well-supported accounting conclusions and documentation.\nSupport AMSC’s SEC reporting process, including quarterly and annual filings and financial statement disclosures.\nPlay an active role in the company’s SOX control environment, partnering across the organization to maintain and strengthen appropriate accounting processes and controls.\nProvide technical accounting guidance in areas such as revenue recognition, inventory, reserves, contract accounting, acquisitions, and other complex or judgmental matters.\nPartner with Corporate Accounting on monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and identify unusual activity or accounting matters requiring further analysis.\nTake a leading role in the accounting and finance aspects of acquisitions and post-close integration, including purchase accounting, opening balance sheet activities, process alignment, controls, systems, and financial reporting.\nPartner with newly acquired businesses to understand their accounting practices and help transition them into AMSC’s accounting policies, controls, systems, and reporting environment.\nWork cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Operations, IT, business leadership, external auditors, and advisors on transactions and strategic accounting initiatives.\nHelp improve and scale accounting processes and systems to support continued company growth.\nLead special projects and strategic accounting initiatives as business needs evolve.\nMentor and develop accounting team members and serve as a trusted resource across the broader finance organization.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nCPA strongly preferred.\n7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including public accounting and/or experience within a publicly traded company.\nStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting.\nMeaningful experience with SEC reporting, including 10-K and 10-Q reporting, and financial statement disclosures.\nExperience working within a SOX-controlled environment.\nExperience with mergers and acquisitions, transaction accounting, purchase accounting, or post-acquisition integration is highly desirable.\nAbility to research complex accounting matters, develop a position, and communicate conclusions clearly to both accounting and non-accounting audiences.\nExperience working across functions and with senior leadership in a dynamic organization.\nStrong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.\nExperience with Oracle or another large ERP environment is a plus.\nExperience with global or multi-entity organizations is a plus.\nTravel & Work Environment\nThis position is based in Ayer, Massachusetts, with an expectation of working onsite approximately 4 days per week when not traveling.\nTravel will vary based on business and acquisition activity. There may be periods with limited travel, followed by periods of more significant domestic or international travel during acquisition and integration activities. Candidates should be comfortable with that flexibility.\nSalary Range:\n$140,000-$170,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.\nWhy This Role\nThis isn’t a role where you’ll be limited to one area of accounting.
