Holds overall responsibility for managing their assigned book of business within company profitability guidelines. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.\nResponsibilities\nAccountable for achieving core operating income, real growth objectives and maintaining quality of business. \nProvides mentoring to their team of underwriters and guidance for their professional development\nEnsures that team adheres with company guidelines and standards in regard to risk acceptability\nManages the selection and denial of new and/or renewal business including management of pricing targets, renewal retention targets and profitability targets.\nEnsures that underwriting decisions are monitored through regular audits and address issues as appropriate individually or through group training. \nFocuses on producer relations including the management of their book of business by developing and implementing action plans as deemed appropriate.\nManages and monitors all stages of underwriting execution. \nCreates and distributes management reports detailing various functions and status on a monthly basis.\nTravel as needed to perform agency visits or to attend company and industry meetings\nKeeps current with market trends and demands.\nPerforms other functionally related duties as assigned.\nDue to the nature of this role, travel, including overnight travel, is required.\nQualifications\nRequired:\nBachelor's degree \n9+ years of experience successfully leading and supervising staff\nDemonstrated effective management and leadership skills\nThorough knowledge of property/casualty underwriting procedures and policies\nDemonstrated ability to lead, plan and work well with others\nExtensive knowledge of NCCI, ISO, and State regulations relating to insurance\nStrong understanding of underwriting best practices and ability to apply same \nExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills\nStrong organizational, analytical, and interpretive skills\nAbility to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment\nAbility to collaborate, “think outside the box” and make sound decisions to resolve complex matters\nAbility to travel and work outside normal business hours\nPreferred:\nInsurance industry designations \nContinuing education\nThis job description is designed to provide a general overview of the requirements of the job and does not entail a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties, or responsibilities that will be required in this position.
