Working alongside experienced analog, mixed-signal and digital design engineers, the intern will contribute to real IC development activities while developing practical experience in transistor-level design, modelling, simulation and verification.\nOur audio products combine precision analog and mixed-signal circuits, data converters, Class-D amplification and power-management functions. This internship provides an opportunity to apply university knowledge to real silicon designs and to develop an understanding of the complete IC development process.\nResponsibilities\nConduct circuit architecture research and feasibility studies.\nDesign, simulate and verify analog and mixed-signal IC blocks under the guidance of experienced engineers.\nDevelop simulation testbenches and contribute to design verification across process, voltage and temperature conditions.\nAnalyse circuit performance and understand key trade-offs involving noise, distortion, power consumption, silicon area and robustness.\nWork closely with layout engineers during physical implementation and review.\nParticipate in technical and design reviews.\nSupport integration and verification of circuit blocks within larger mixed-signal systems.\nWhere appropriate, contribute to behavioural/system-level modelling and silicon evaluation activities.\nMinimum Qualifications\nCurrently pursuing a BEng, MEng, MSc or PhD in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics or a closely related discipline.\nGood understanding of analog circuit fundamentals and CMOS device operation.\nFamiliarity with common analog building blocks such as amplifiers, comparators, references, bias circuits and oscillators.\nUnderstanding of feedback, frequency response and circuit stability.\nSome experience with circuit simulation and electronic design tools.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility and enthusiasm to work collaboratively within an engineering team.\nPreferred Qualifications\nFamiliarity with transistor-level IC design and Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre.\nUnderstanding of ADCs, DACs or delta-sigma conversion.\nUnderstanding of Class-D amplifiers or other audio signal-chain circuits.\nFamiliarity with switched-mode power supplies such as buck, boost or charge-pump converters.\nExperience with MATLAB, Python or similar modelling/data-analysis tools.\nExperience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators and audio/precision measurement equipment.\n A genuine interest in analog IC design and a passion for audio.\nFor positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
