We are investing in both internal laboratory capability and external collaborations with leading universities, foundries, and research institutions. Our Wilmington photonics lab is now operational and supporting multiple demonstrator programs spanning silicon photonics,microringmodulators, and next-generation optical interconnect technologies.\nWe are looking for a hands-on engineer who enjoys building systems, solving difficult measurement challenges, and working at the intersection of photonics, electronics, packaging, and control.\nKey Responsibilities\nPhotonics System Bring-Up & Characterization\nLead characterization of photonic demonstrator platforms.\n\nDevelop and execute optical, electrical, thermal, and system-level test plans.\n\nPerform measurements including:\n\nOptical spectrum analysis\n\nHigh-speed modulation testing\n\nBER characterization\n\nThermal tuning and resonance characterization\n\nOptoelectronicControl-loop validation\n\nEye diagram and signal integrity analysis\n\nDie and wafer level measurements\n\nCorrelate laboratory results to system-level optical interconnect requirements.\n\nLaboratory Ownership\nOwn day-to-day operation of the Wilmington photonics laboratory.\n\nSpecify, commission,maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.\n\nDevelop laboratory procedures and characterization methodologies.\n\nSupport future lab capability expansion and equipment procurement.\n\nAutomation & Data Analysis\nDevelop Python-based automation frameworks.\n\nCreate repeatable characterization workflows.\n\nAnalyze large measurement datasets.\n\nGenerate technical reports and engineering recommendations.\n\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nWork closely with:\nPhotonic IC designers\n\nHigh-speed electronics teams\n\nPackaging engineers\n\nUniversity collaborators\n\nFoundry and OSAT partners\n\nCurrently ADI collaborates withUniversities, institutes, and multiple photonic technology suppliers.\nRequired Qualifications\nPhD in:\n\nPhotonics\n\nOptics\n\nElectrical Engineering\n\nApplied Physics\n\nRelated technical discipline\n\nHands-on experience with optical characterization.\n\nStrong understanding of integrated photonics.\n\nExperience with optical communication systems.\n\nProficiencyin Python for automation and data analysis.\n\nDemonstrated ability to independently bring up laboratory hardware and measurement systems.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nSiliconphotonicsexperience.\n\nMicroringresonator characterization.\n\nTFLN device experience.\n\nHigh-speed optical communications.\n\nPIC packaging and fiber alignment experience.\n\nCo-packaged optics (CPO) or datacenter optical interconnect experience.\n\nExperience working with photonic foundries and academic collaborators.\n\nWhy This Role Matters\nThe successful candidate will playa central rolein helping ADIestablishinternal photonicsexpertiseand validate future optical connectivity architectures.
