The selected candidate will support data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading activities within a major federal modernization program. This role directly contributes to large scale data migration operations by executing ETL workflows, preparing data for cloud ingestion, resolving transformation issues, and ensuring required data quality standards are met. The engineer works alongside senior migration staff and technical teams to deliver reliable, accurate, and repeatable data operations throughout mission critical modernization cycles.\nSpecific duties and responsibilities include:\nETL Execution & Data Transformation\nExecute ETL workflows for structured and unstructured datasets migrating from legacy systems to cloud environments.\nPerform data extraction, transformation, cleansing, normalization, and enrichment according to migration specifications.\nTroubleshoot transformation issues and coordinate resolution with senior ETL and data engineering staff.\nSupport automation improvements enhancing repeatability and reliability of ETL operations.\nMigration Operations Support\nPrepare datasets for migration cycles, including pre migration readiness checks and staging activities.\nAssist senior engineers during large scale extraction events, test cycles, and cutover operations.\nPerform pipeline monitoring and basic performance validation during data movement operations.\nData Quality, Validation & Issue Resolution\nConduct verification activities to confirm accuracy, completeness, and consistency of transformed data.\nIdentify defects or anomalies and work with engineering and QA teams on root cause analysis.\nDocument recurring issues and support improvements in validation processes and quality controls.\nCross Team Collaboration\nCollaborate with Data Engineers, Senior ETL & Migration Engineers, QA/Test Engineers, Cloud Engineers, and Product Owners.\nParticipate in sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and migration planning discussions.\nSupport integration of ETL processes with broader data pipelines and downstream systems.\nDocumentation & Reporting\nMaintain data maps, ETL logs, transformation procedures, SOPs, and technical notes.\nProvide updates on ETL execution progress, validation findings, and pipeline status.\nDocument workflows and repeatable processes to ensure consistent future migration cycles.\nThis position requires an active Top Secret (TS) clearance and the ability to obtain SCI accesses with a CI polygraph.\nThis position is on-site with our customer in Huntsville, Alabama, and cannot be supported remotely.\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree and 4+ years of hands on experience in ETL operations, data transformation, or data migration.\nExperience with structured and unstructured datasets and transformation logic.\nFamiliarity with ETL tools, scripting languages, and data pipeline operations.\nStrong analytical and problem solving skills, with a high attention to detail.\nAbility to work effectively within multi team, fast paced technical environments.\nMust be able to work full-time on-site at our customer location in Huntsville, Alabama.\nActive Top Secret (TS) clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and the ability to obtain a CI polygraph.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience supporting federal government/national-security programs.\nExperience working within cloud migration or cloud based ETL operations (AWS preferred).\nFamiliarity with DevSecOps workflows, CI/CD processes, or distributed compute tools.\nIntermediate scripting or automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.).","description_format":"text","description_chars":3764,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":4,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":true,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Cybersecurity","Government","Military"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-28T20:19:07Z"}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":3,"expected_fill_days":47,"reasons":["conf:11","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-02T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/anavation-etldata-migration-engineer-mid","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/anavation-etldata-migration-engineer-mid.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-03T03:16:09Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":2964,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":2036,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-04T00:00:00Z"}}}
