Location: London, 2 to 3 days onsite in Kings Cross
Contract: Immediate start - 12 week contract
Who We Are
AND Digital are on a mission to close the world's tech skills gap.
We help organisations navigate the future of technology by combining human expertise, emerging tech and AI to deliver better outcomes, faster.
Since 2014, we've worked alongside clients to solve complex challenges, build high-performing teams and create lasting capability. Today, we're over 1,300 people across the UK, Europe and the USA, with ambitious plans for continued growth.
The Role
We're looking for 1 Flutter Engineer to join an in-house backend engineering team working on a highly regulated, safety-critical medical technology product.
You'll own a self-contained area of the application, taking work from initial design through to merged, tested and documented code. Depending on your experience and the team's needs, this could include areas such as alarms, patient data persistence, device supervision and start-up, session management or service functionality.
You'll work closely with the Software Architect and engineers responsible for surrounding components, while taking ownership of delivery within your area.
This role is well suited to an experienced Flutter Engineer who has worked on Linux-based safety-critical, mission-critical or highly regulated products and is comfortable working with formal quality processes, static analysis, code coverage and rigorous testing requirements.
What You'll Do:
- Construct guided setup workflows, patient ID workflows, sensor lifecycle tracking, data quality thresholds, subsystem monitoring screens, and embedded guidance tools
- Deliver real-time metric displays, interactive timeline graphs, target value baselines, motion metric indicators, historic data visualization, and clinical notation features
- Build prioritized alert views on the primary screen, silence controls, customizable limit ranges, and status message panels
- Develop screens for system boot, permissions routing, loss-of-signal alerts, time-zone settings, pause states, discharge workflows, shutdown routines, service utilities, and data export functions
Experience Required:
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience deploying Dart and Flutter interfaces on embedded Linux setups (flutter-auto), alongside familiarity with fixed touchscreen layouts, virtual keypads, and systemd service managers
- Deep practical knowledge of flutter_bloc, Cubit, and provider architectural patterns, utilizing sealed classes, pattern matching, and stream regulation techniques
- Proven background building socket connections to process size-prefixed FlatBuffers packets over local TCP networks
- Strong capability creating performant CustomPainter charts for high-frequency data streams designed to minimize memory allocation overhead
- Comprehensive understanding of flutter localizations, ARB files, and timezone-aware component rendering
- Strong track record in unit, widget, screenshot, and regression testing, reaching full coverage metrics across safety-critical modules
- Experience with continuous integration, detailed peer reviews, structured inline documentation, and clear requirement mapping
Desirable:
- Familiarity with medical technology environments or regulatory quality frameworks
- Working knowledge of C++ for reviewing protocol definitions and defining service interfaces
- Comfort translating Figma designs and contributing toward software risk evaluations (FMEA)
Equal Opportunities
