This role works closely with customers, operations teams, customs brokers, carriers, government agencies, and internal stakeholders to facilitate the timely and compliant movement of goods across international borders. The Export Compliance Specialist reviews export transactions, conducts compliance screenings, prepares and validates export documentation, and identifies potential compliance risks. This position serves as a knowledgeable resource for export compliance requirements and helps promote a culture of compliance, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service throughout the organization.\nJob Responsibilities\nReview export transactions, shipping documentation, and shipment details to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.\nConduct restricted-party and denied-party screenings and resolve potential compliance concerns.\nPrepare, review, and submit export documentation, including Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings and related regulatory requirements.\nEvaluate shipment destinations, end users, end uses, and commodities to identify potential export compliance risks.\nMonitor and support compliance with applicable export control regulations, sanctions programs, and trade requirements.\nCollaborate with clients, carriers, customs brokers, government agencies, and internal teams to resolve shipment and compliance-related issues.\nInvestigate and escalate potential compliance concerns to appropriate leadership when necessary.\nMaintain accurate records, reports, and documentation to support compliance activities, audits, and regulatory requirements.\nAssist with internal compliance reviews, audits, and process improvement initiatives.\nSupport the development and delivery of export compliance training and educational resources.\nStay informed of regulatory changes and industry developments impacting export compliance and international trade.\nPerform other duties and projects that support Deringer's global trade compliance program.\nEducation and Experience\nAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Customs & Trade Compliance, or a related field preferred.\nTwo (2) or more years of experience in export compliance, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, international logistics, or a related trade compliance role preferred.\nExperience working with export documentation, government filings, and international shipping processes preferred.\nKnowledge of U.S. export regulations and international trade practices preferred.\nRelevant industry certifications are a plus.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nKnowledge of export compliance regulations, international trade practices, and freight forwarding operations.\nUnderstanding of export documentation, government filing requirements, and shipment screening processes.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and evaluate compliance risks.\nExcellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work across departments and with external partners.\nAbility to interpret regulations and apply them to real-world business transactions.\nProficiency with business systems, trade compliance tools, and Microsoft Office applications.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.\nCommitment to confidentiality, integrity, compliance, and exceptional customer service.\nDemonstrated ability to support Deringer's values of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.\n\nThe salary range of compensation for this position will be $55,000-$75,000 based on experience and education.\n*To ensure competitive and equitable compensation, pay may vary based on the candidate’s regional market compensation rates.\n\nCompetencies:\nAll Deringer employees should be fully committed to the Core Values:\nPassion, Respect, Integrity, Expertise, Innovative Solutions, Relationships, Support, Determination, Value and a High Level of Accountability\nIn addition, the following competencies are specific to this position:\nAnalytical - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness;
