We're here to shape it.\nAbout this role\nAndrenaM is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about advancing the user experience for autonomy and maritime technology to join us at our office in Washington D.C. This is a unique opportunity to be an early member of our software engineering team, shaping the product from the ground up.\nOur main engineering challenge is to develop a real-time data platform that can ingest, process, store, and display data from thousands of autonomous and semi-autonomous marine systems. This system must seamlessly handle a wide variety of sensors, hardware interfaces, data sources, and AI-driven analytics; all with military-grade security and robustness.\nIn this role\nYou will set a new standard for user-facing software for distributed, autonomous maritime systems\nYou will take on full ownership of large engineering projects from scratch\nYou will tackle diverse engineering challenges, with the opportunity to shape your role over time as an individual contributor or technical leader\nYou will work alongside top engineers in software, hardware, and autonomy, contributing to cutting-edge defense technology\nResponsibilities\nCollaborate with hardware, software, and business teams to develop features across the stack, from embedded systems deployed in the field to cloud-based data pipelines and user-facing interfaces\nLead the development of full-stack, user-facing software products for data management, real-time data visualization, and command and control of autonomous systems\nActively seek feedback from users and stakeholders to continuously improve the user experience\nCreate software integrations with external systems as part of the full-stack products\nDrive technical decisions and contribute to the evolution of our software stack\nProvide mentorship and contribute to a collaborative team culture\nBecome a go-to expert for all challenges encountered\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with IoT systems, defense tech, or related fields\nExperience working directly with end users to understand requirements, design products, and address feedback\nProficiency writing/debugging software in Python, TypeScript, React, GraphQL, or related technologies\nProficiency architecting, developing, and iterating on full-stack software products\nExperience building tools to accelerate testing and development of software systems\nApplication of modern data structure, algorithm, and software design best practices in production systems\nExperience integrating software systems with electronics or hardware systems\nExperience managing database systems (SQL and NoSQL)\nExperience handling software in controlled and classified environments\nExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment\nExperience developing roadmaps and communicating timelines with stakeholders of your work\nPrevious startup experience, working with non-technical customers, and examples of successfully proposing/delivering 0 to 1 projects\nWhy join us?\nAndrenam is an innovative, mission-driven company at the intersection of maritime autonomy and defense. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Andrenam's total compensation package.
