We're here to shape it.\nAbout this role\nAndrenam is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join our software team and help build the platform that brings our ocean data to life. Our main engineering challenge is a real-time data platform that ingests, processes, stores, and displays data from our sensors in the field. This is a hands-on internship focused on full-stack development, from the pipelines that move sensor data to the interfaces people use to see it and act on it.\nYou won't be sitting on the sidelines. You'll take on a real, scoped project that supports our core platform, work directly alongside the engineers who build it, and get regular feedback and mentorship as you go. You'll get real experience building software that handles a wide variety of sensors, hardware interfaces, and data sources, with the security and robustness defense work demands.\nWe're looking for students who are hungry to learn, love building things, and want to see their code used by real people running real systems.\nWhat you’ll do\nFull-Stack Development:\nBuild and ship software features across our stack, with guidance from the team.\nOwn a scoped project tied to the team's priorities at the time of your internship.\nParticipate in code reviews and follow team practices for testing and version control.\nIntegration and Troubleshooting:\nWork with our hardware and autonomy engineers to connect software with the systems we deploy in the field.\nHelp build tools that speed up testing and development of our software.\nTroubleshoot issues and work with the team to understand root cause and fixes.\nCollaboration and Growth:\nWork closely with our engineers, taking feedback and iterating quickly.\nShare progress clearly and ask questions early.\nDocument your code and decisions so the team can build on your work after your internship.\nLocation\nWork full-time onsite from our Torrance, CA office\nQualifications\nCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.\nProgramming experience in Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, C++ or a related language.\nSoftware experience through coursework, personal projects, or student engineering teams, with at least one project you can walk through in detail.\nStrong problem-solving instincts and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar problems.\nClear communication and a track record of working well with others.\nNice to have\nExperience building web applications with React, Angular, Vue, or related technologies.\nExperience working with databases (SQL or NoSQL).\nExperience with message queues/brokers (Kafka, Redis, MQTT, etc)\nExperience with containerization.\nExperience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc).\nExperience writing software that interacts with hardware, sensors, or IoT devices.\nInterest in maritime systems, autonomy, or defense technology.\nWhy join us?\nAndrenam is an innovative, mission-driven company at the intersection of maritime autonomy and defense.
