The new hire will contribute to the next generation of innovations in automated instrumentation workflows and high performance algorithms to extract artefacts from high throughput analytical devices for drug discovery laboratories.\nThe Waters Global Research team performs early, cutting-edge research on novel chromatography and mass spectrometry systems that have a direct impact on laboratory testing, drug discovery and development and food safety. The role of this engineer will be to develop and refine algorithms that extract metrics from analytical devices, leverage GPU architectures to speed up run times.\nWe seek someone with a growth mindset who is self-motivated, a problem solver, and someone energized by working at the nexus of leading-edge software and hardware development.\nThis position follows a hybrid work model, with three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday) working from the GCC office at RMZ Ecoworld, Bellandur, Bangalore, and the remaining two days working remotely.\nResponsibilities\nBuild tools and develop algorithms in C++ that process scientific data from instruments\nPort algorithms to GPU and benchmark results\nWork with Subject Matter Experts in the instrumentation to refine algorithms and address edge cases\nMaintain codebase: use OOP and/or FP best practices, write unit tests, etc.\nWork with development teams to assist with algorithm validation and knowledge transfer\nConfigure/use LLM and agentic tools to develop and validate solutions\nPresent work to department, collaborate with other scientists and engineers across worldwide offices\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or related field and at least 5 years relevant work experience, or equivalent\nComfortable discovering and driving new capabilities, solutions, and programming best practices from blogs, white papers, and other technical documentation\nSolid experience in developing applications in C++\nExperience with scientific data and algorithms development\nProficiency in object-oriented design or functional programming best practices\nFamiliarity with the software workflow and agile best practices (Git version control, testing best practices)\nExperience building CUDA/OpenCL applications\nGood communication skills\nDesired (considered a plus) Qualifications:\nExperience developing applications in Rust and/or C\nWe know that sometimes the perfect candidate does not exist, and that people can be put off applying for a job if they do not fit all the requirements.
