Domains may include Air Dominance & Strike, Maritime, Ground Systems, Space, Counter-UAS, and Autonomy/Lattice. The Reliability & System Safety Engineering team works with our broader Engineering team to ensure our products are safe and meet all mission performance, environmental, and customer requirements. We develop cutting-edge System Safety processes and methods to secure scalable, long-term business success.\nAs a System Safety Engineer at Anduril, you will autonomously drive system-level safety decisions, apply advanced analysis techniques, influence design trades, and lead complex failure investigations. You will partner with Reliability, Systems Engineering, and Hardware & Software teams across the product development lifecycle to deliver safe, mission-ready products.\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\nExecute System Safety program plans aligned with MIL-STD-882E and program-specific requirements\nConduct safety analyses including FHA, Fault Tree Analysis, SCFTA, FMECA, and System Safety Assessments at the system and sub-system level\nDevelop safety requirements and collaborate with design teams to implement safety solutions\nIdentify and document hazards and risks, manage hazard tracking, and ensure proper risk mitigation strategies are in place\nSupport the Design Requirements Process to ensure teams adhere to safety best practices\nSupport Development Milestone Reviews (PDR, CDR, QDR) representing System Safety\nLead Safety corrective actions from RCCA investigations and Mishap Reports\nVerify and validate risk and hazard reduction measures\nLiaise with internal stakeholders and support customer and regulatory engagements as needed\nDrive continuous improvement in System Safety processes and methodologies\nEnsure compliance with relevant military and industry safety standards\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nMinimum of 5 years of industry experience as a System Safety Engineer or equivalent engineering background\nB.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline\nExperience with safety-critical hardware and software systems in the defense or aerospace industry\nFamiliarity with MIL-STD-882E and other relevant safety standards\nStrong background in safety analysis techniques including FTA, FHA, SCFTA, and FMECA\nExperience with requirements decomposition for Safety\nFailure investigation/analysis experience with a proven track record of solving problems and preventing reoccurrence\nDesign Review experience (PDR, CDR, MRR) and confident presentation skills\nStrong analytical/problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally\nEligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nM.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline\nExperience or familiarity with ARP-4754, ARP-4761, MIL-STD-516C, and JSSSEH\nExperience with Relyence, Teamcenter, JIRA, JAMA, Cameo, and/or Ansys\nSoftware safety case development experience\nExperience with risk management, change control/change management reviews, and software/firmware HITL/SITL\nAI/ML software safety experience\nUS Salary Range\n$126,000—$167,000 USD\nThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
