We lead with passion, innovation, and a commitment to doing things differently.\nWe are stronger together, have more impact together, and have more fun together.\nPosition Summary\nThe Assistant Athletic Trainer is an integral member of Angel City FC’s Medical Department and is responsible for supporting the delivery of comprehensive, player-centered healthcare within a high-performance environment.\nReporting to the Director of Medical and working closely with the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide day-to-day clinical care to Angel City FC players, including injury prevention, evaluation, acute injury management, treatment, rehabilitation, and support throughout the return-to-play and return-to-performance process.\nThis role requires strong clinical judgment, initiative, attention to detail, and proactive communication. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will manage an assigned clinical caseload while working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary medical and performance team to provide coordinated, evidence-informed care that supports both player health and performance.\nThe successful candidate will contribute to a culture built on clinical excellence, collaboration, accountability, trust, continuous learning, and a commitment to providing an exceptional standard of care for Angel City FC players.\nKey Responsibilities\nProvide comprehensive athletic training services for Angel City FC players, including injury prevention, first aid and emergency care, injury evaluation, treatment, therapeutic interventions, rehabilitation, and appropriate medical referral.\n\nManage an assigned clinical caseload and contribute to the development, implementation, and progression of individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans.\n\nCollaborate with the Medical and Performance Departments throughout injury rehabilitation, reintegration, return-to-play, and return-to-performance processes.\n\nDemonstrate sound clinical judgment and appropriately communicate and escalate changes in player health status, clinical findings, rehabilitation progress, or other concerns to the appropriate members of the Medical Department.\n\nWork collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team that includes the Chief Medical Officer, Team Physicians, Director of Medical, Head Athletic Trainer, Director of Rehabilitation, Director of Performance, Physical Therapists, Performance Coaches, Sports Scientists, Registered Dietitians, Mental Health Providers, massage therapists, chiropractors, and other healthcare and performance professionals.\n\nDevelop and implement evidence-informed injury prevention and risk-reduction strategies in collaboration with the Medical and Performance Departments.\n\nMaintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive player health, treatment, rehabilitation, and participation records within the league-provided electronic medical record system.\n\nParticipate in daily medical and performance communication processes to ensure relevant player health and availability information is communicated clearly, accurately, and through appropriate channels.\n\nContribute to departmental discussions and clinical decision-making through thoughtful communication, collaboration, and the appropriate use of objective and subjective clinical information.\n\nComplete all administrative responsibilities related to player medical care, including medical insurance documentation and coordination as required.\n\nComply with all NWSL medical standards and reporting requirements, including documentation of player injuries, treatments, participation status, and other league-mandated medical information.\n\nMaintain the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism regarding player health information and all other confidential club information.\n\nBuild professional, respectful, and trusting relationships with players while maintaining appropriate clinical boundaries and standards of care.\n\nCommunicate effectively and professionally with players, coaches, medical and performance staff, club leadership, external providers, and league personnel.\n\nContribute to a departmental culture of high standards, accountability, collaboration, feedback, and continuous improvement.\n\nSeek out and actively participate in continuing education and professional development relevant to sports medicine, athletic training, and the care of elite female athletes.\n\nAssist with ordering, maintaining, and tracking medical supplies and clinical equipment.\n\nMaintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional athletic training room and clinical environment.\n\nMaintain compliance with OSHA standards, including requirements related to bloodborne pathogens and workplace safety.\n\nSupport matchday, training, preseason, travel, and other medical operations as required.\n\nPerform additional duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position as assigned by the Director of Medical.\n\nWork Environment & Schedule\nProfessional soccer requires a non-traditional work schedule. This position requires extensive domestic travel and may include international travel, as well as regular evening, weekend, and holiday work based on the team’s training, match, and travel schedule.\nEssential Qualifications\nBOC Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing.\n\nDegree from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training program meeting applicable professional certification requirements.\n\nMinimum of three (3) years of professional experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer.\n\nCurrent CPR/AED certification.\n\nAbility to manage multiple clinical and operational responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.\n\nAbility and willingness to work non-traditional hours and travel extensively with the team.\n\nPersonal professional liability insurance as required by the club.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious experience working with elite or professional athletes, preferably within soccer or another high-performance team sport environment.\n\nExperience working within a multidisciplinary medical and performance model.\n\nUnderstanding and practical application of data-informed rehabilitation and return-to-play decision-making.\n\nExperience working with female athletes and an understanding of considerations relevant to the health and performance of elite female athletes.\n\nDry needling certification, where permitted within applicable scope of practice.\n\nAdvanced training or demonstrated experience in manual therapy techniques.\n\nACFC Perks & Benefits\nFully funded comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage\n\n401(k) plan\n\nFlexible PTO policy\n\nPaid parental leave\n\nCell phone reimbursement\n\nDaily catered lunch\n\nComplimentary tickets to home matches\n\nCompensation\nIn addition to the benefits outlined above, the salary range for this exempt position is $80,000 to $90,000 annually. The stated range represents Angel City FC’s good-faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting.
