In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.\n Be the nerve centre of one of Queensland's leading underground coal mining operations, where your decisions, communication and situational awareness help keep our people safe and our operation running smoothly.\nWe are seeking experienced Control Room Operators to join our team at Moranbah North Mine. In this critical role, you will be responsible for monitoring the underground mining environment, coordinating communications across the operation, and supporting the safe and efficient execution of mining activities on a 24/7 basis.\nReporting to the Compliance Superintendent, you will serve as the central point of coordination for underground operations, providing real-time operational oversight, facilitating communication between key stakeholders, and ensuring timely responses to changing mine conditions.\nWorking closely with Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors and ERZ Controllers, you will leverage your knowledge of underground coal mining systems, mine safety requirements and emergency response protocols to support both production and safety outcomes.\nKey responsibilities:\nMonitor and coordinate underground activities to support safe and efficient mine operations.\nTrack and communicate changes in mine conditions, ensuring appropriate actions are undertaken in a timely manner.\nAct as the primary communication hub between underground crews and site leadership.\nProvide accurate operational updates and critical information to shift personnel and management.\nMaintain oversight of mine monitoring and communication systems, ensuring operational integrity at all times.\nEscalate and coordinate responses to operational issues, alarms and safety incidents as required.\nSupport emergency response activities and fulfil the communication and record-keeping responsibilities associated with significant incident management.\nMaintain accurate operational records, logs and shift reports.\n Advanced knowledge Safegas, citect/SCADA.\nWorking knowledge of underground coal mining operations\nPrevious experience in a Underground Coal Mine Control Room Operators role\nGas chromatograph competency\nAdvanced level of computer literacy, particularly with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)\nExceptional attention to detail and the initiative to follow up on results to ensure accuracy and timeliness of work\nProven ability to effectively work within a team environment\nYou will also hold expert knowledge of emergency response and first aid equipment with a strong commitment to health and safety standards\nAdvanced/Senior First Aid Certificate - preferred\nExperience with Weather Guard, lightning tracker software, Minedash desired but not essential\nExcellent communication skills are required\n Additional information\nFull-time permanent position based at Moranbah North Mine, Middlemount\nMultiple positions available\nAttractive 7 on, 7 off roster\nCompetitive salary package on the Moranbah North Enterprise Agreement\nMonthly coal bonus incentives\nResidential, FIFO (company funded) & DIDO options\nSubsidised accommodation and company funded camp options provided\nGym membership perks\nRelocation Assistance available\nAnglo American company benefits\nWhat we Offer\nWhen you join Anglo American, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package and a range of flexible work arrangements that support the balance of work, family and individual circumstances.
