Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.\n The Dragline Mining Engineer will provide dedicated technical support to dragline operations, playing a key role in short-term planning, design and execution. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this position focuses on enabling safe, efficient and reliable dragline performance while supporting broader site production objectives.\nYou will contribute to front-end daily planning and short-term schedules (up to approximately six months), ensuring dragline activities are well integrated with supporting operations at Capcoal Surface Operations. This role offers the opportunity to be closely involved in mine plan development and execution during a period of transition and future growth.\nKey responsibilities include:\nDeveloping and maintaining short-term dragline schedules and designs\nSupporting daily production planning and dragline sequencing\nProviding technical advice to dragline operations to support safe and efficient execution\nAssisting with spoil placement strategies, strip sequencing and design optimisation\nWorking closely with operations and planning teams to ensure alignment between plans and execution\nContributing to mine plans that support future growth and production targets\nSupporting continuous improvement initiatives within dragline operations\nMaintaining compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards\nThis role is well suited to an engineer looking to build or further develop dragline experience in a supportive technical services environment.\n To be successful in this role, you will bring:\nA tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline\nA minimum of a couple of years’ experience in a mining engineering role\nDragline experience or strong exposure to large-scale open-cut operations (preferred)\nExperience in short-term mine planning, scheduling or design\nFamiliarity with dragline planning and/or mining design software\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work closely with operational teams\nA practical, execution-focused approach to engineering\nA strong commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement\n 8 days on, 6 days off roster\nFull-time permanent position based at Capcoal Surface Operations, Middlemount QLD \nFIFO, DIDO, or residential lifestyle options\nFree camp and mess\nRelocation Assistance Provided \nAttractive Salary & Annual Bonus + 12% Superannuation \nDiscounted gym membership\nFree access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP)\nWhat we offer\nWhen you join Anglo American, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package and a range of flexible work arrangements that support the balance of work, family and individual circumstances.
